My family owns a commercial HVAC company. We specialize in hospitals and have been doing a lot of work on local military bases lately.
I'm the vice president (holla!) but mostly as a formality lol. Technically I'm a project expediter, I assist the project managers. I order equipment, get permits, fill out paperwork.
Technology exploration, new technology development to fill capability gaps for the military. work on and manage new weapon and weapon accessory programs. I don't do a lot of the design work, but i basically tell my engineers when they are off base.
before i joined the weapon technology branch i work in the propulsion group and worked artillery programs like the M777 155MM light weight towed howitzer, Excalibur, ACAAP, and did some work with MACS (modular artillery charge system)

Im an administrative Assistant for an education based not for profit agency but my background and degrees are in education and psychology...currently looking for a new gig...
Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I used to do individual and group therapy. Now I work for a behavioral health managed care company doing case consultation.
This what I want to do and wish I was doing right now. But I haven't gotten my masters yet. I'm waiting to find a job that will pay for school because I already have student loans out the wazoo.
Right now I'm working as a Special Events Coordinator. So I basically plan weddings, parties, fundraisers and meetings. I'm applying like crazy to other jobs though.
How do you like your job Bully? And I think you do the same thing Doris right?

That is WAAAY too funny. That is how I got my start in Social Work. My bachelors is in communications and I did PR work for the Big Brother Big Sister program. So I helped to do fundraisers, recruiting volunteers, etc. I wanted to go back to school and chose social work.
Doris does more case management type stuff with actual clients. I do case consultation for inpatient psych hospitals, substance use rehabs and detox facilities. Facilities call me up and we review cases and I give recommendations for treatment, discharge planning, etc. I do more macro level stuff whereas Doris is micro level.
I will say that I love social work for the diversity of what you can do. I have worked with kids, I worked in an ED of a hospital, I worked with adults with developmental disabilities, I worked wiht cancer patients, I did therapy. However, the BIG drawback is that money sucks compared to other fields. I am finally making good money but I am also working in the for profit world. Jobs like this are few and far between where I live.

That's way too funny!! lol I do know the pay sucks for SW but if I was doing something I loved and could live off the pay I would stick with it. I used to work at a local hospital and saw the social workers all through out the hospital. I had to deal with one during one of my stays too. I love the idea of the diversity and helping people out. My bachelors is in Behavioral Science and i really liked the classes.
I can't wait to go back for my masters because having a bachelors means nothing in that field unfortunately. How do you become licensed? Is it after you complete your masters and then you take a test? How long were you in the program? Sorry for all the questions I'm just happy to talk to someone in this field.

No worries! My Master's program was 2 years full time because I was in a different field prior.
The licensing depends on your state. In my state you can take your LMSW (Licensed Master of Social Work) exam right after you graduate. Then, if you want to get your LCSW (which is a higher level of certification) you have to work under a LCSW for 3 years before you can apply to sit for the exam.
I am Director of Development in higher ed. Basically I work with high level donors to get funding for scholarships, program support, faculty support, etc.
I am also finishing up my MBA -- 4 classes to go!!
I'm a student-1 year left! Which kind of scares me, I like my safety of not getting sued if I fuck up.
I am also an intern at a law firm doing everything (criminal, family, estate planning, personal injury, etc.). I am kind of the office bitch. I am also a research assistant for my Wills and Trusts professor who is working on a trust case book.
I am a cost accountant for a manufacturing company. I love working for them. I work directly with the CEO a lot there. Heck, they hired me when I was 7 months pregnant!
Peoplesoft Developer/Analyst (software engineer). I am an independent contractor and work short term contracts with large corporations. I love it. It pays great and it's very creative work. I love developing solutions to make the functional folks happy and increase their productivity.
