I am a registered nurse in a level III NICU, which is my fourth career. I started out as a Biology/General Science Secondary Education-certified teacher. I had a year in a sixth grade long-term sub position before I decided that was NOT for me, and I moved into the not-for-profit world. I worked as a Program Director at a local community-based organization that served a lower-income minority population (the bulk of my job was running afterschool and summer day camp programs), and then I moved on to working as a Membership Specialist for our local Girl Scout council (I was responsible for all troops in a certain geographic area of our council and the management of all the volunteers in that area). I then went to nursing school for my BSN while working as an aide, and I have worked in the NICU since I finished school almost six years ago. It was the BEST THING I ever did for myself. I am a huge fan of being a nurse.
Oh, I have also worked at a local Bath and Body Works for almost ten years, but that's mostly for the discount.
I am a Respiratory Therapist. Sometimes I do or help stick tubes down people's throats
Also to gross you all out my dad and I (he is in the same field but higher up - like homecare VP stuff, more the high end buisness part) say that sputum (flem) is our bread and butter
Can we start a secret SW club??? Huuuhhh?? Can weeeeeee???
Of course!! What is our handshake?
Me too!
I'm a social worker in public child welfare (CPS) and presently work in the juvenile dependency court system. I didn't think I would stay here very long, but it's been 6 years....
Add me to the social worker club! Although I'm in school full time now getting my MSW. I did SW for 3 years out of undergrad in work similar to Doris (mental illness + other disabilities).
I hold 2 positions at my job: I'm the office manager of an ambulatory surgical center, I also prepare and cut frozen sections of skin.
That is so awesome! I am always looking for PRN opportunities; what is your degree?
I have a BS in Anatomic Laboratory Science. Very generic and pretty much sucks for finding jobs. I'd like to eventually go back to doing autopsies, but I like my current job a lot.
