I'm a Video Compression Technician for a Compression/Emulation/Authoring facility that is contracted by Universal Studios. I am the first technical step in creating a DVD before it's sent to press copies.
(<---see what city I live in, it should make sense plus Bully can vouch for me)
I can! And....when I visited Starryfish we were supposed to have dinner with some friends of mine who were in town....who are doctors. Yeah, doctors and a rocket scientist....and me, lol.
This what I want to do and wish I was doing right now. But I haven't gotten my masters yet. I'm waiting to find a job that will pay for school because I already have student loans out the wazoo.
Right now I'm working as a Special Events Coordinator. So I basically plan weddings, parties, fundraisers and meetings. I'm applying like crazy to other jobs though.
How do you like your job Bully? And I think you do the same thing Doris right?
That is WAAAY too funny. That is how I got my start in Social Work. My bachelors is in communications and I did PR work for the Big Brother Big Sister program. So I helped to do fundraisers, recruiting volunteers, etc. I wanted to go back to school and chose social work.
Doris does more case management type stuff with actual clients. I do case consultation for inpatient psych hospitals, substance use rehabs and detox facilities. Facilities call me up and we review cases and I give recommendations for treatment, discharge planning, etc. I do more macro level stuff whereas Doris is micro level.
I will say that I love social work for the diversity of what you can do. I have worked with kids, I worked in an ED of a hospital, I worked with adults with developmental disabilities, I worked wiht cancer patients, I did therapy. However, the BIG drawback is that money sucks compared to other fields. I am finally making good money but I am also working in the for profit world. Jobs like this are few and far between where I live.
Yup, I do in home case management for 30ish people in the community. I love what I do (most of the time) and every day is always a new adventure. I didn't get a BSW but I am a CSW so I'm certified but can't work for places that bill under Medicare/Medicaid as they require a BSW. I just finished my masters in a generic degree because I can't be sure I want to be a social worker the rest of my life.
And I make decent money for what I do....and I work from home, so I think that's an added bonus!
I work for an telecom company and I'm in charge of logistics and transportation. Our factories are abroad and I have to make sure everything gets to wherever our different projects are. I don't love my job but I do have nice perks.
Student. I was just certified in Criminal Justice, Criminal Forensics. I'm a class away from my Associates of Science and about a year-ish away from my Bachelors.
Then I'm a SAHM. Me and the kiddo are living with my parents.

I am a social worker. My current position has me working mostly with teen moms. I honestly love the caseload I have now. One of my moms just had twins this week and I got to hold and cuddle them at the hospital and it totally did NOT make my ovaries ache which fills my heart with glee.

I am involved in production agriculture. We have cattle, and we raise a variety of crops. My brother and I are the 4th generation of our family to be involved.

CPA specialized in tax in the insurance industry. I love it but you should see looks I get when I tell people what I do. Unfailingly they either glaze over or tell me if just put their two least favorite topics together.
