On the train on my way home right now. I have to pick up the kids at my mom's house, but tonight she said she would make us dinner since DH is at school all night. So yay for not having to figure out dinner plans tonight!
Ds2 took an unexpected 2hr nap this evening. It was great to get to prepare, eat, and sit down through supper without having to watch him. Just had to put up with ds1 refusing to eat anything on his plate. I eventually gave him an ultimatum that he had to eat one bite of anything I'd gives him, and he did... While making a disgusted face and saying mmmm, yum. Sigh. Pb&j again. We're not pushing him too much since he's cutting molars and is extra picky as a result.
Also, what is with all the @this tagging? I missed something, clearly.
ok funny? story about salary negotiations. The individual worked part time for the hospital in the past but was technically employed by a temp agency. Coworkers encourage her to apply for an open part time position that she'd be perfect for, she interviews and is offered the job. When she tried to negotiate for more money they countered with 8 WHOLE CENTS MORE than they originally offered. She declined, lol. 8 cents? Really? Why bother.
DS has been an absolute pleasure all day. I'm so glad he's recovered from his pneumonia! He's been sweet, helpful, a great listener. While DH and I chatted and finished eating dinner, DS cleaned up all his toys BY HIMSELF without us even asking!!! Right now he's playing with DH in the tub, having a grand old time. (Heart)
On vacation, H and I agreed we don't love the boy name left over on our hypothetical name list (Theodore). So today while desperately busy at work, obviously I was combing the SSA list for new ideas. Boy names are blah FYI.
Is there a Canadian equivalent of the SSA baby name list? How do you all know if your kid's name is too popular in your province?!
E was so cute tonight. Glad we didn't have a rough day back after snow and the weekend.
The lumber liquidator story is sickening. I'm so glad we didn't buy flooring yet and they are off our list. I can't imagine what the families are going through.
Our neighbor delivered Girl Scout cookies. Must stick to my calories.
P finally cracked 8 pounds! But the LCs at the pedi are still concerned about slow weight gain. He gained 5 oz the last week but they really want to see an ounce a day.
I just found out that friends (I use that term loosely) are PG with their first and I am trying to be happy for them but they are so, so unprepared to be parents.
I bought one of those weighted straw cups and bam the girls are drinking the breastmilk. It only took 11.5 mos and several different straw and sippy cups but they are drinking it. Still won't drink as a nursing replacement to drop a,session but they drank it instead of water with lunch and dinner. It's progress! I'm so happy because I have a ton of frozen milk.

It's laminate only, right? What about engineered hardwood?
We can't have a name ending in N which eliminates about 50% of boy names
funny, I had to sit and think for a minute because none of our boys names we used or considered end in N. James, Patrick, William, Andrew, Charles, Joseph, Nicholas.

Laminate is what they've said. I'm not sure if any other flooring was tested.
I ordered a few things from Kohls in 3t thinking I could save it for next summer. It looked a bit small, so I had A try it on and it fits her now. Whoops. I could save it for C, but that is the time when she would have a huge growth spurt.
I am waiting for H to get ready to watch the walking dead. Instead he is researching ice castles. At least agreeing to his big purchases keeps him from questioning my clothing purchases too much.
I'm sitting here arguing with the Russian over taxes.
He needs to get his done and the rule is if you use our accountant (who is legit, we've been there 10 plus years, is part of a well known firm, 7 of our 8 past kids have used her etc.I'm not sending him to Tax Time Teresa in the basement) we will be glad to help you. If not, that's fine, but you're on your own.
He's trying to tell me that he's worried we're referring to him to our accountant so we can somehow screw him over (Dude. You already have your w2 . Out of my hands). He's also convinced our accountant will somehow keep his refund (Which is like $200...lol.).
He's also very worried the mail will not bring his refund and would like to collect it at an IRS office himself if possible (Hahahaha. I've been trying to contact the IRS over a minor issue since 2008. It's still not resolved so good luck with that!)
He also does not understand that he can only pay taxes based on what he's made since his arrival last summer through January. He wants to know why he can't do taxes for his entire year's stay at one time and why he can't file on money he hasn't yet earned basically. There is not enough English to explain that the IRS runs on a calendar year not a University Exchange Student one.
He now thinks I don't know what I'm talking and will take it up with the "man of the house" upon his return. Which will be hilarious because "man of the house" will just refer him back to "woman of the house" Who does the paperwork.
My only saving grace was that he just Skyping with my past Ukrainian whom he respects a lot. Ukrainian just emailed me and said, "I told him to take it to the accountant and get done with it. It's NBD." Thank God.

I missed this - what happened? We were considering them for new floors at the house...
They tested laminate floors made in China and the levels for formaldehyde were off the charts.

We are switching from Comcast back to DirectTV. Doesn't happen until Sunday though so I have until then to get caught up on all the stuff I have saved on the DVR. Challenge accepted!
I love stories about @justdairy's exchange student. Bless your heart for putting up with him.
Thanks. I have to laugh or I'd cry sometimes.
He's sweet but sometimes for the lack of better phrasing he's like the Russian equiv. of bad blonde jokes.
He really is sweet but somedays.
He doesn't really have a temper. Moreso just argues in ways only Russians would deem polite. He's Russian 7 so I'm no longer offended and hold my own.
And I'm kind of amused and excited to have stories again. My last kid was really tame, managed fine on his own and only asked for like 2 things the entire year he was here. He was the greatest kid ever just unexciting when it comes to episodes of as the E. Students Turn.
