DD had a febrile seizure this afternoon . Her fever spiked to 102.74.
I changed her diaper, set her on the couch and she started seizing. She seized for a few minutes. Dh called our friend who is a dr - she rushed over. DD was blue when she got there, she did a few rescue breaths and dd finally stopped seizing ..
It's took 911 for-ev-ER to get there, and it was an even longer ambulance ride.
When we got to the ER her fever was 105.5 - Everything came back normal. They are going to give her some antibiotics then send us home.
She is looking a lot better.. I'm just freaked out that it's going to happen again.
**update** We had a f/u today with the pedi at 2:45. We were there for 2 hours, so that was fun. DD was 2 hours past her nap time, so she was a hot mess.
Basically, we learned nothing new. Pedi did a nose swab to test for some other respiratory viruses/bacteria. She got another dose of rocephin (which is a shot in each leg - that was fun). Blood cultures weren't back yet - which they prob won't be back until tomorrow. They usually take 48-72hrs.
TBH, i'm a freaking nervous wreck. i don't like " well, we don't know why she had a temp of 105.5" ... that just doesn't work for me. I feel like i'm just sitting around waiting for her temp to spike, and waiting for another seizure.
Her temp was 99.4 when I got her up from her nap. Gave her tylenol. It went to 99.8, then 100.1, gave her motrin (this was 2hrs after tylenol). Oh, and she threw up during lunch, so, there went the tylenol. When we checked in at the pedi her temp was 101.
We have another appt tomorrow afternoon where we will either get more rocephin or another course of action. hold me.
Oh my gosh! You are such a strong mom who knew exacly what to do. Many T&P coming your way.
Honestly this is a big fear of mine because my boss told me about her daughter having a febrile seizure due to a 105 fever when she was ~6 months old. Her daughter is totally fine, had it checked out thoroughly and it was just her tiny bodies reaction to fever. So positive vibes your outcome is the same.
