Someone who works in a fish market, because I just don't think you ever get that smell off you. Ever.
I DID work in a fish market, in high school. I could NEVER get the smell off my clothes and the smell was so bad that my mom taught me how to use the washer/dryer so I could come home, throw my clothes in there, start the machine and she wouldn't have to get NEAR them !
while the smell did come off of me, it NEVER came out of my work clothes. when I stopped working there, I threw 'those' clothes away lol
Originally I was going to say "hmmm...I don't think so" because I think it depends on the person and your field of work doesn't necessarily define you and even those in a "difficult schedule" type of field, if they were a great match for me, we'd find a way to make it work.
However; I think fish market. Yes. this is a good one. Lol.
I'm only partly kidding. I have never really thought about this. Definitely, as mentioned above, anything is the sex field (porn star, stripper...). Maybe doctors, but this is based on my sister telling me I should never date a doctor since she works with them and says the majority of them cheat.
Before I opened this thread, the only thing I could think of was someone who worked for certain political parties (as an actual politician or as party-related staff). I just don't think I could reconcile myself to such a major difference in ideology.
I will expand that to include anyone who works in a job to actively support ideologies that I am opposed to. Lobbyists and organizational leaders for certain causes, a few religious figures, puppy mill owners, sweatshop supervisors, etc.
And thanks to everyone in this thread for pointing out porn actor. Definitely a no-go for me. I'll add prostitute as well, since it's legal in many places.

That's interesting about doctors. I haven't heard that. I doubt it's the majority. I wonder if it's higher than the general population. I wonder which profession has the highest cheaters, male and female.

HA! My first instinct was: surgeons, Police, and Attorneys. How funny! I don't see family doctors cheating so much as SURGEONS. I watch Grey's Anatomy. I know they have those egos.

My mom worked high up in administration at a hospital. When Grey's anatomy first came out, she said that was a pretty accurate depiction of hospital life, except it's usually married doctors sleeping with nurses. She said she's had to deal with a lot of disciplinary issues due to people having sex in places they shouldn't in the hospital (library, offices, etc.)
ETA: she married a doctor after this conversation, so clearly she wasn't too worried about it.
Wait- wouldn't you assume that what the guys SAY their jobs are on Ashley Madison ? You think the orderly or patient tech isn't just as likely to take a dick pic in scrubs and say he's a surgeon?
People don't LIE on the internet, @stpete. Duh.
Although, I believe that list is probably pretty accurate. I know a LOT of cheating attorneys. And most of them are NOT attractive, so I don't get it. ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE FOR THE WIN!

Slightly off topic but I'm bizarrely attracted to attorneys. No matter the attractive level. I'm like you're not that cute ooooh wait you're a lawyer? Now i'm interested. It's weird.

My sister is a surgical tech, so yes. At least at the hospitals she's worked at (3).

I don't think I'd rule out someone just based on their careers (except for porn star, I think that's pretty universal), unless he was a workaholic. It depends on the whole picture. I'm sure there are careers that attract those who are prone to cheat, but I don't believe that certain careers create that tendency in people who wouldn't otherwise do it. I could see choosing not to date someone who had a dangerous job, or one that required them to be gone an excessive amount of time. I was in the Navy for 20 years, and what I found was that it was just a cross-section of the general population. Some people cheat, some don't; some people steal, some don't; some people lie and some don't. It wasn't the job that caused the habits.

I spend too much time around them. I mean, at least 3 out of 4 of the partners at my job cheat. At least two of them with people who worked at our office...
Anything to do with nightlife--like bartender, bouncer, etc. I think it just would not mesh with me. As someone in the medical field, I'm not fond of doctors in general either.
Military. I was in it for awhile and want nothing to do with it. Musician (Music for hobby=ok). Gynecologist. ..I just don't know that I would want my husband looking at tons of other women's female body parts...

I would have a difficult time dating someone with a schedule that was opposite from mine so anyone who worked nights and weekends (service industry, band, etc.). Probably not someone active military.

I am going to sound like a complete bitch but I would never date someone with a blue collar job here. On my defence (if there is any), in my country people with those type of jobs will only make minimum wage which very very low and very little advancement potential unless the person decided to go to college and earn a degree.

I'm going to sound like a complete socialist (no surprise there), but this is one of the things I love about living here. People with blue collar jobs make only slightly less than a lot of people with university degrees and even masters degrees, so it really evens out a lot of the social disparities. (But there are still serious issues regarding immigrants, and western privilege, which has been bothering me lately.)
Most Doctors are a no for me. Unless they are private practice with decently predictable hours. I work in a hospital and see all the hours they spend here and I am not a fan of not seeing my SO for that long... and I wont lie, there is a high percentage of a-holes.
Not all! Not even MOST, just more than a lot of other fields.

Me, too. And professors.
Oof. I really dislike how often I am attracted to professors. My ex husband was a professor, and he was a narcissistic asshole. My first little flirtation after I left my husband was with a professor and he ghosted me. I recently met and was talking to someone new and was interested, and then I found out he was a professor. Damn it! No more professors!

As someone who has worked in academia for the last 11 years, I can say that I think you are making a wise decision.
Air traffic controller, porn star, stripper, military.
Why on the air traffic controller?
It's just a shady career field. I've married two and both have cheated on me, one with his Co worker. I'm not saying all controllers ate shady, I'm just saying you work in high stress situations and spend a lot of time in close proximity with the same people that bonds form. I currently work with two divorced couples, both had cheating involved. For me personally, I will never be with another air traffic controller no matter what. It's a huge turn off for me personally at this point.
