Yesterday, my daughter N came home with red marker all over her face. MEANGIRL did this. This is not the first time MEANGIRL has bullied N. MEANGIRL has been bullying N since last year, so I requested they not be placed in the same class this year. SCHOOL has been aware of this bullying by MEANGIRL since that time.
Notwithstanding SCHOOL's knowledge of this bullying, N was assigned to sit next to MEANGIRL on the bus this year -- a ludicrous, unreasonable, unacceptable, and dangerous mandate for which SCHOOL is ultimately responsible. Because of SCHOOL's failure to keep MEANGIRL away from N (and, in fact, seating them right next to each other), SCHOOL has actually enabled MEANGIRL to continue to bully N.
MEANGIRL has stolen from N. MEANGIRL has thrown N's belongings around the bus. MEANGIRL has smashed N against the bus window.
Enough is enough.
I will be driving N to school tomorrow. The bus is no longer safe for her.
Please advise as to your availability to discuss this in person. I am available all day Tuesday. I trust that, when we speak, you will have a number of proposed solutions to this problem, including, but not limited to, effective monitored separation of MEANGIRL and N and appropriate disciplinary measures for MEANGIRL.
Does DH know the other kid whose face was also drawn on? I would follow up by contacting that parent. Let that parent know that it also happened to your daughter and what you have done to correct the problem. If that parent has not already done so, I would encourage them do also document the incident and contact the principal. Two angry parents will get the issue addressed quicker than one.
Spoke with her teacher, who said N told her she did it to herself. N told both me and H that other girl did it, but not to get mad, because she didn't want other girl to get in trouble.
So. I don't know if the principal will call them both down to the office today before she contacts me or not. If she does, N will FREAK out. But, I also understand her needing to hear from the students directly.

You went with 05heel's letter, didn't you? It's ok. It had the most panache.

Kidding aside, I hope all goes well.
I'm so mad, and this is not even happening to me.
(heart)
maybe...although your letter came in at a close second. Good effort.
I'm still waiting to hear from her. Stopped in to bring N her gym shoes because she forgot them this morning. I'd usually just let her have to sit out gym as a consequence - she has before, personal responsibility, blah blah blah - I wanted an excuse to stop in and talk to her if I hadn't heard yet. However, she was on lunch duty. Secretary said I could go find her in there, but that isn't exactly the ideal place to start this type of conversation.
And so, I'm still waiting. So help me if I don't hear from her today.
Contact the principal immediately. I'm a principal and this is the kind of thing I deal with regularly. The bus driver has no authority to discipline. The bus is part of school property and the same consequences apply. Most buses have cameras and this should be able to be found easily. I use the cameras all the time to investigate bus incidents.
