I'm going on a good vacation this summer, and would like a pretty swim coverup, but I'd want it in plus and apparently the entire plus collection was sold out in less than an hour.
It was online only for plus. Fuckers. I had two things in my cart that kept disappearing between 1:15 - 1:30 am Eastern. At that point target put everything on hold and then re-released it at 3 am Eastern. Why do they hate the east coast?
I would love me some vineyard vines for target! I went to this crazy vineyard vines "whalehouse" sale in pawtucket in an old mill last week. They were preppy people going through TABLES of vineyard vines stuff for a fraction of the full price. I got my H a tie for $25.
There is literally no item of clothing in this world for which I would herd myself like cattle. I want to drop the People's Elbow on other customers in Target on a normal day. Dealing with hordes of screeching women fighting over a dress three sizes too small for them just to say they got something is my idea of hell.
Things like this make me wonder if I'm missing a feminine gene or 2. Im impressed with myself for just knowing what LP is, but I feel zero need to buy or wear any of it.
Target was having a rough time, financially. They recently laid off a bunch of people at the U.S. HQ. So I'm sure they're thrilled.
I stopped by Target this afternoon and it was completely cleaned out and if I hadn't been looking for evidence you wouldn't have had any idea that the LP stuff ever existed. There was a small display by the purses with one lonely girl's jumpsuit that was gone by the time I left and a tiny shelf in housewares with a set of glasses, a vase, and a set of patio lights. It's a crappy Target that borders some of the poorer neighborhoods in my town that I sometimes have amazing luck with special launches but today was a bust. All I wanted was the set of mugs and the giraffe bottle opener but there's no way I was going to fight for that shit at ass o'clock in the morning.

But I feel like this was a huge miss for Target. Rather than being a pleased customer who will now be shopping at Target, I'm just double down on my annoyance with them because plus sizes were only online and the release was botched. Additionally, aren't they missing out on revenue by only making a limited number of these items? If they had more inventory, they would have more sales. Now, the additional revenue is being captured in a third party market place like ebay with the profits going to randoms.
Maybe I'm missing something, but this seems to me like another black eye for Target.

I don't have a problem with exclusive, because people do want to feel that they are getting something special. But I waited up until 2 am and had stuff disappear out of my online cart multiple times. If the plus stuff had been in store, I would have gone to a location, but they decided to carry online only for plus. I'm just salty about the whole situation as I think the rollout was totally botched and rather than creating buzz and excitement, they created resentment. You are right, they made it too hard to get.
Depending on whether people buy from eBay, I bet a lot of things end up returned. The problem with Lilly compared to other designer collabs is Lilly is attainable and comparable to the marked up eBay prices. Missoni not so much, for example.
I'm sure some people will pay the jacked up eBay prices but I wouldn't be surprised to see a decent amount of returns from people who can't unload it.
I'd stand in line for a Kate Spade collaboration. I'm not super into designers and things but I really like the bangles and other jewelry.
I went to my Target this morning just to scope it out. Zero line, mostly dead, but there were 3-4 ladies who had pretty much scooped everything into their carts (they had 6 between all of them). Just seemed ridiculous.

My sister is a target manager. Her store sold out by 8:03. And she said target did like $20 mil in sales between 8-10am. I'd say this was a win for them. But she said they had super limited quantities.
