And what is your preferred style if this is not it? Bonus points for PIPing!
We live in a dutch colonial. I used to not like this style but it's slowly grown on me over the years and now I think they are cute. I also really like traditional colonials and craftsman bungalows. I think they are so cute.
We have a center hall Colonial. It is NMS but it was the best house we found in our price range.
I really like the new takes on Craftsman and farmhouse styles. I can appreciate contemporary/modern architecture as well but I would want it to be in the mountains or desert.
Ranch. I don't mind it but I hate having laundry in the basement. I'd like either a ranch with laundry room on main level or 2 story where bedrooms are all upstairs and laundry is upstairs or at least on main level. I also really wish we had an actually dining room and full basement to use as a play room.
We live in a teeny tiny raised ranch. My only dislike is that the garage is attached to teh basement which means when we come or go from anywhere we have to lug DD plus all of our crap up or down a flight of stairs.
We are currently looking for a new house, and it seems like everything in our price range is a butt ugly split entry. We are in split entry HELL!! I pretty much like anything that is bigger than 2bed/1bath 860 square feet of living space (which is what we have now), and isn't a damn split entry!

We live in a pretty standard ranch. It works out well for our family right now.
But DH and I still dream of moving into the historic neighborhood in our town that is a mix of Victorian, Craftsman, Bungalows, etc. We tried last year and lost a great Victorian by 4k.
This craftsman style home just went up for sale. I want it soooo badly. It's only $300k out of our budget. Boo!
I would describe it as "my kids don't have to share a bedroom and I get my own office space in a major city, so I am thrilled." It's red brick on the outside, which I think is very pretty, and there's a small space between my building and the one next to it, so I don't share a wall with anyone. Since I have never lived in a stand-alone house in my life, this last part feels pretty decadent.
I think the official real-estate agent speak is "Pre-War."
We have a 1970s ranch. I like having everything all on one level, but I really like older/more historic homes better. H doesn't so hopefully some day we can compromise and build a new old house.
Split level. Super boring looking on the outside. Kind of like bowies's photo, only with just four symmetrical windows and the door in the center. And the garage is detached.
My preference? Hmm. Depends on whether I get to also "prefer" different financial circumstances My ideal is either a true colonial (circa 1800s or earlier), a farm house of similar age, or going in a slightly different direction, a craftsman style. But most of those options are more time- and money-intensive to maintain than my house. We looked at a bunch of 1800's homes when we bought ours, and ultimately decided that we didn't want every cent we made to have to go to our house to properly restore and maintain it (which is how we ended up where we are). We've lived there for 7 years, and I don't regret it, even though my house will never be the envy of the H&G board. I have more time and energy for other stuff this way.
