Man, I went to a community college so I have exactly zero bragging rights.
Same here, and at that time, one unit was $13.
Mine was $5 unit and capped at $50/semester. I got my undergraduate course work done for $200. Doesn't take a Duke grad to figure out I could a great deal!
You know, I would still hate Christian Laettner if he had gone to another school. That he went to Duke and was Coach K's little pet makes it even worse.
There are at least 3 books about hating Duke basketball.
And the 30 for 30 is on ESPN2 right now! Still hating.
My neighbor's name is Cornell. This is how I remember his name. For a while it was "Dammit, his name is a freaking university name but it's NOT OXFORD DAMMIT! Why can't I get past OXFORD???" lol.
When I moved to NC, I was quickly indoctrinated to the college basketball scene. Most of the engineers here graduated from NC State and thus hate UNC. Most of the non-engineers are UNC fans and hate State. However, they are united in their hatred of Duke.
I went to NCState & DH went to UVA....we bonded over our hatred of Duke while dating. Duke guys where the absolute worst--they dropped that they went there within approx 10seconds of any conversation. Then in grad school my study abroad program was combined with Duke & I almost wanted to say the hell with it when I found that out. Unfortunately even co-existing 24/7 with them for 6mo didn't improve my impression...my only saving grace is Duke doesn't have my major so I didn't have them in actual class.
I didn't think Duke did anything other than make basketball teams?
The make a few great doctors.
The current research and treatment for brain tumors (specifically GBMs) going on there is truly a medical breakthrough. It has me so hopeful that one day soon the life expectancy of GBMs will be longer than a year.
Yeah, "I went to school in NC" doesn't have quite the same ring to it as "I went to a college in Connecticut."
I often say that I went to college in Boston. People get all weird, and then I'm like, "newp. Not THAT college. But thanks!"
If someone tells me they went to college in Boston I ask them which one of the 10,000 schools here. Boston isn't Cambridge. Lol. If someone was telling me they went to school in Cambridge I'd be an asshole and ask if they went to CCAE (Cambridge Center for Adult Education) instead of asking if they went to Harvard or MIT.

Agreed. But I live in Seattle, so from this far away, it's all the same.
Sorry about the arrogant Duke Alumni, not all alumni are jerks. My MIL is a very nice Duke Alumni
The Duke Alumni in my family are great! We really hope at least one of our kids attend, and keeps the legacy going. Apparently, that may qualify as a flameful confession.

I don't understand this.
Why not just say where you went to school?
Oh, if people ask, I do.
But in this context, the conversation usually goes like this: Random person: oh, are you from Seattle? Me: sort of. Born in Boston, middle school and high school in Seattle, back to Boston for college, short stint in Spokane, then back to Seattle. R.P.: oh? Radcliffe (or, here, usually just "Harvard")? Me: nope. Boston College. R.P.: oh. Never heard of it.

Give me a break.
Nobody says Radcliffe.
Um, ok? They do, when talking about women's athletics.
