I think the best show of all time is Breaking Bad. I have a HUGE soft spot for The X-Files though. It's not a consistently great show but Mulder and Scully are two of my favorite TV characters, and I loved watching their relationship evolve.
So far I would say Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is my favorite comedy ever, but it's hard to give an all-time award after just one season. I have high hopes for it going forward though. 30 Rock was my favorite comedy before Kimmy.
Basically I have a giant boner for Vince Gilligan (who was also my favorite X-Files writer) and Tina Fey.
If you asked me a couple years ago I would have also said HIMYM - but the last season and especially the series finale just pissed me off so much that I'm still bitter about it. I really need to re-watch some of the early seasons just to remind myself that it was a good show.
probably Gilmore girls, though it kind of gets worse as I get older lol.
followed closely by friday night lights.
Yeah, every time I re-watch it I definitely change my mind about how I feel about all the characters and what goes on. When I watched it live on TV I was the same age a Rory and now I'm near Lorelai's age so my perspective has changed a lot. But I also think that's one of the things that makes the show great. It has a really good re-watch value and I either notice new things every time or look at the situations differently each time.
I have been watching old episodes of Friends lately and it makes me realize how much TV has changed. The filming style feels really old fashioned to me. The jokes are still great though. It was a really good show.
I feel like The Simpsons holds up great too--at least the episodes I watched before I gave up on it in 2003 or so.
