My little paper book was always in the checkbook so I call the whole thing the checkbook. I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I wrote a check....
So, I needed a new one and went to the bank an asked for a check register. The woman stared at me blankly and then said, "oh a bank book?"
Bank books are WAAAAAAAY old school. They harken back to the days where you actually had to go to the bank to do any banking. I've seen them a handful of times, but never from anyone younger than 80.

Whaaaat? I used a bank book until like maybe, 5 years ago. It was the little book that you stuck into the ATM machine each time to be updated. I guess that technically does feel like forever ago, but still...

Lol. Its a register. I think I had a bank book for the account my great aunt opened for me when I was 6.

I have never ever put something IN the atm that wasn't my debit card or money to deposit. Where do you live??

Seriously! Well call me shocked. I'm in Ontario; I did that my whole life up until, like I said, maybe 5 years ago. Instead of getting the "receipt" you get now, you put your little bankbook into the slot, it sucked it in, printed any updates on your account like deposits/withdrawals/etc. and then spit it back out again.
I figured I was either really old or really foreign. I think I might be both...
