ugh, Sushi, I hope it gets better!
I need to stand up and thank wawa for sharing with me the amazingness that is Moving Comfort sports bras. OH MY GOD AMAZING.
Yesterday H wanted to haul to the Brooks outlet store here... their HQ is in Seattle, so the store is a for-real outlet (like, he ended up getting a buncha running shirts that had been swag for races all over the country... they were $2 each. I'm sure there's a taboo against wearing shirts for races you didn't participate in, but fuck that noise. If they had some in my size I'd have bought them too.)...
Anyway, since Brooks makes Moving Comfort, got there and went all bra crazy. Ended up getting a Maia bra that's the BEST FUCKING BRA EVER MADE BY ANYBODY EVER. Ever. It's ah-mazing because it's two bras in one - a full on underwire bra + another compression bra over it. They ain't goin nowhere. And mine's purple.
(if you have ta-tas, you can get the same model on the Brooks website. It's only $34 in pink or yellow!)
...the outlet was incredible, though. Bras starting at $10! Plus all kinds of other stuff. Got a half zip in a perfect weight for $15 (also in purple, I look rad!).
So, thanks... if it wasn't for your rec, I'd have just sent him to go buy shoes on his own.
Anna Duggar and Chester the Molester announced the birth of their daughter yesterday. All their kids have names beginning with M. I was assuming it would be a made up, trendy name, but no. They used my name. Goddammit. The first time I'm not happy about that.

Yay! When I saw your FB note about the outlet I was hoping you'd scored some good boulder holders.
eta: I know it's silly, but I love having sports bras that coordinate with the my chosen color palette. I always wear teal or turquoise and purple for races. This started back when I was TWELVE with horse stuff, and it's just kinda...kept going. It also makes me feel like SOME DAY when I get sweaty enough and confident enough running to just whip my shirt off and run in my sports bra without a care in the world for my blinding white stretchmarked belly, my bra will be cute by god.

I only bought the one because the only other one they had was identical to this - - color, style, everything. H was all "just get it" and I didn't want to have two of the same. I like the pretties!
the problem is today for my run I'm kinda too matchy-matchy. Purple bra with half zip over (the zip is deep enough that you see the bra, how cute is that?) w/black pants. But my shoes are black with the same exact color purple laces and trim. And my socks (little anklets tho they be) are also purple. Just this once, I look like I'm trying too hard, instead of my usual whateverthefuckitfitsit'sclean way of dressing to run.

LOL, whereas I'm all, "is it purple? I'M BUYING IT." because it gives me a weird joy to be all perfectly matchy when I get up to run as the fucking asscrack of dawn. I dunno...the newspaper dude in the white creeper van might think I look like I'm trying too hard, but at 5:00 AM you take what you can get in terms of thrills.
eta: also mominatrix - that description of clothing is making me sweat just thinking about it. It's been hotter than balls here for the past couple of days. sleeves? no thank you. I wanna move to the PNW.

NO.
It was like 98 yesterday. We're having a heat wave of epic proportions.
Like, usually, we'll have one or two 90+ degree days the whole summer. This summer, it's been 90+ like 80% of days since May. And not a drop of rain.
I've got long sleeves because I'm me. Also, it's still cool (three hours later, remember)... and I run on an air conditioned track at the Y most days because.... well, because I prefer it. I'm only at week 3 of C25K, and I've done some runs in my neighborhood but I much prefer the track. Plus childcare. And wifi.
...and the shirt is a freaking miracle... yes, it has long sleeves (and thumbholes!!!) but it's meant for summer, I think. It's a technical fabric that is cooling and wicking, and the whole center-back is mesh. So, not hot at all. (but I'm one of these people who's always cold, FWIW)
Oh lordy. DH stopped by the house this morning and saw someone hop the fence into the backyard of our elderly neighbor (her grandson does this to get in the house). So he stopped to check in with her. She'd fallen and broken her leg and possibly her hip. He got there just in time to help the grandson call the ambulance.

tomorrow is my FIL's birthday and we're all going out to dinner tonight. i love my BIL and SIL but i just want to nut-punch them. they (meaning H because the 2 that aren't currently working can't do this themselves) are organizing a baseball game outing. one is complaining that it's too far (even though we have to go twice as far to get there) and the other has half the month booked. so we're going on the day that my company has it's yearly ISO audit.
guess who is the only one not complaining about that date?

Hugs all around.
I logged off my work laptop at 4pm Friday and didn't log on until 10am today. I specifically told people I would NOT be logging on and to call my cell if there was an emergency--although I did take a 4-day weekend over July 4th, I was still checking/responding to work e-mail and I haven't have a day without work of some type since March. I log in this morning and ~60 e-mails about firestorms that "suddenly popped" they expected me to deal with--NO phone calls. And all but one fire? Yeah, it's the job of the person e-mailing to deal with, not mine and the fire is they didn't do it and why didn't I do it for them? Fuckers. I'm sooo not second guessing my decision to work-from-home today, safer for everyone that way.
No, what I meant by "default" life, I mean is anyone else living in close proximity to their spouse's culture/family/etc and away from theirs? When I ask DD about her family, in her mind it's our nuclear family and my in-laws. My family is an afterthought, if I'm lucky. And I totally get it because she has little to do with my family and they aren't nearly as functional as my H's family, but it still bugs. Yesterday we were talking about how expensive it is to go to the States every 2 years and SIL's husband was all, "why do you have to go?" and I wanted to punch him in the face
Yup. Get you. I go to the States every two years as well (this year we had a surprise visit due to H having a work trip). I talk to my mom once a week, email my dad every so often (and facebook all the time). We live with my MIL right now, so I REALLY get you.

Thanks everyone.
I'm back from the doctor and I have an rx being filled. But really it was just great to hear my doctor say "you shouldn't have to live like that. We will try X and if that doesn't work I promise we will find something that does." He is very conservative in terms of meds, which I love about him (he's not the type to throw antibiotics at everything) but I was stressed out that he wouldn't want to try meds for this. It makes me feel validated and reassured that he's there for me.

Very glad to hear this...I know that meds work differently on everyone, but I had some great success with Lexapro daily and Ativan as needed, but recently had to add Buspar to the daily mix and its been working really well for me. Having a doc like is worth his weight in gold!
