@simpledog - we got one at 23 months, but could have been using it sooner.
namasteak and spk926 - does the easel get a lot of use? Thinking that could be a Christmas present. Also - sometimes when DS steps on it a certain way, the flat part he stands on will bend (where the joint is). I feel like that shouldn't be happening - any thoughts?
This morning has been great so far. DS and I went to Dunkin Donuts before I took him to school. He was so cute there, narrating everything he saw. Cold milk! Pointing to the people next to us - Hot coffee! Pointing to my drink - Cold coffee! Pointing outside - Big truck! Schoolbus! It was adorable.
After dropping him off, we had some new furniture delivered - 2 big dining room chairs for the ends of the table, and 2 new family room armchairs. The movers took the rest of the dining room chairs because they need reupholstered. I'll PIP momentarily.
I'm trying to go over our budget in YNAB to see where we can potentially cut some fat if H decides to go for the new job I talked about last week. It will be a temporary pay cut for him, but I will also be only at about 75% pay on maternity leave this winter. Luckily I didn't notice the pay difference on ML last time because I save so much money on gas and not buying lunches, but we will definitely feel his potential pay cut.
So far all I've got is getting rid of cable and keeping just internet to save about $100/mo. Considering he'll potentially be losing about $350/two weeks for about 6 months while...that's not going to cut it! Unfortunately we're already not doing much frivolous spending, so I guess we'll just have to tighten up on things like groceries.
My extra pay for last Saturday's inpatient coverage AND my bonus hit my paycheck this pay period...score! (I didn't think the latter would post this pay period)

We haven't assembled the easel yet but I expect it will since DS loves to use markers on dry erase boards when we are at friends houses. I would tighten all the screws again and see if it keeps happening. If it does don't be nervous to contact CS since that company has awesome CS.
This might be a dumb question but what do you *do* with a learning tower?
The same thing you do with a kitchen chair
Then again, I am not a fan of excessive kid products cluttering up my house; DD has managed to help/watch in the kitchen standing on a chair since she turned 1.

Ours does. It's two sided. One side is a chalkboard and the other side is a magnetic dry erase. I don't do the dry erase side because dry erase markers are permanent when colored on things besides a dry erase board. So we just do the chalk board. Overall she really likes it. Sometimes she uses it a lot and other times there may be a few days where she doesn't touch the chalkboard KWIM?
You have the newest version of the LT and I have the previous one so my platform has no joint, it's just a solid piece of wood. I would call CS though for sure!

This is true. But is your DD a super wiggly kid who loves to climb? DS is and the tower helps to contain him.
The cleaners are coming today. I love/hate when they come. I haven't had to deal with them like the last 4 months they came so I'm currently in hate mode.
I have this urge to go to the Cheesecake Factory after they leave and have a margarita while keeping DD occupied with some french fries.

Is it bad that I have no desire to give me kid access to the kitchen counters? I don't have the patience to let her "help" me cook.
I don't either, but DD bugs the hell out of me if I'm trying to do anything in the kitchen. If I seat her on the counter she is so happy, but then she starts trying to touch everything. So basically I get nothing done in the kitchen.

My DS has his first soccer practice tomorrow. On a Saturday...where I hoped that we could do nothing all day. Boo! Also, the coach mentioned that they would have two practices and the scrimmage before their first game next weekend. It seems a little excessive for 6 year olds, but whatever. I am THE worst when it comes to this stuff. I want DS and DD to be active kids, but would rather just come home after work and not have to deal with practices and games and all that. #FWP

My crazy kid just sits on the counter (the cooktop is on the island) and "helps." By helps I mean tell me over and over it's hot, blows on it to cool down, and tries to stick his feet in the pan. Cooking at my house is quite the adventure...
He use to use a chair, but now he just uses it to climb on the counter. I have given up trying to wrangle him.

Not excessive here. Most U7 teams will have had a month of weekly practices before the first game. We are serious about our soccer here in KC.

Here, the rec teams usually aren't too serious. This is his third year playing and last year, they didn't even have a practice before their first game (due to scrambling for coaches). He is on U8 this year, first year of teams not being co-ed so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that they are stepping it up. I am just lazy and want to do my own hobbies in the evenings. lol
mcfelix your house looks like something out of a magazine!
Thank you!! Since DH and I are in the business, having a house that is very put together is important to us.
On another note, our back patio is in the process of getting installed, so I'll be up for hosting a MMM GTG this fall while the weather is still nice! Plus I will be on maternity leave
It is a stupid time for a wedding, but it's local, and it's DH's cousin, so we're going. But I don't really want to. It's going to be an expensive cash bar, it's DD's birthday and she's not invited (I'd rather be home spoiling her), and we'll only know DH's family that we also have to see a bunch of times over the next week. Plus only our most expensive babysitter was available.
mcfelix is that an area rug or a carpet in your living room? And where did you find the chairs? I'm in full on redecorating mode.
DD's Jenny Lind bed came today!!!!! I seriously love it so much! I'll take a picture when her sheets are out of the dryer and the bed is all made. We ordered the nightstand too but it's on back order so she has a fan on a ghetto pile of books. We've been playing in her room and on the bed all morning and she's pretty excited about it.

We have a large kitchen so her LT is on one end of the island and I'm elsewhere cooking. It puts her at our level though and since she can get in and out alone we can leave snacks out and the dogs can't get them.

I was having the most ridiculous craving for those giant chewy sweet tarts yesterday. All DH could find at the store were mini chewy ones. So now I'm contemplating ordering a big box of giant ones from amazon.
I took DS on his first trip to Costco today. He slept most of the time and only fussed a little when we checked out, so all in all I'd say it was a success.
I know the feeling. Because of stupid soccer practice tomorrow, I know that DD will fall asleep in the car on the way home and won't take her usual 2 hour nap. Waaaaaah.

Weirdly I've always seen them at craft stores, JoAnn or Michael's.
Yes! We have both of those places. Looks like I'm running errands tonight. lol

My Costco is selling 3 piece Gymboree sets that are really cute. For boys it is a knit waist pant, tee and sweatshirt for $24.99. They seemed really soft and well made. 2 choices for boys and several for girls, of course.
