so, I grabbed one of my EXTREMELY rare two-hook bras and tried to put it on by hooking the back.
First, you have to get the boobs into the cups. With the back unfastened, so they kept flopping out. Now, maybe (probably) my boobs are floppier than most, but that was a whole lot of no fun. Then, getting the back clasped. Get one hook hooked, try to hook the other one, get it, but unhook #1 in the process. Over and over and over again. FINALLY get them both hooked and I STILL have to bend over and jiggle them into place.
Took much longer, was much more uncomfortable.
...the things I do for this message board continue to amaze me.
Try bending over in the first place. Then boobs shouldn't be flippy-floppin' all over the place. Lower boobs into cups, reach back and clasp as you stand up, then bend over against to adjust if needed.
This is exactly what I do. The big boobs are key, because they hold the cups before I'm hooked.
34F and I fasten in the back then bend over at the waist to shove anything that squishes into the cups. I'm breaking in my new Freyas and the bands are so tight there's no way I could slide it around easily.
See I find fastening in the front means that my boobs can't be properly positioned in the bra, plus it stretches out the bra pretty quickly. My bras are like $70, I need these things to last! I can't think of a bra I have had with less than three hooks in the last ten years.
This part I don't get. I fasten in the front, slide around the the back, then each boob get put into its allotted cup. Easy peasy. I do not think I could fasten around back if my life depended on it. Shoulders, man. Mine don't bend that way! I also don't wear $70 bras, so that might make a difference, too. Hanes "Almost-A" cups here.

By stretching the band a bit and pulling back it's easy to get the hooks on properly. I say this as somebody with short arms and big breasts. Although perhaps the small band size helps with this?
And, for the record, my mum was a front clasper but I do it in the back. The fact that I learned how to do this while wearing a 32 band when I should have been in a less-than-28 in my early teens may help, since I had a lot of give to get the motion practiced.
If you were supposed to fasten in the front, why wouldn't they just sell more front-clasp bras?
I bought one today! A calvin klein convertible. Plus no underwire But I know I'm very lucky to do that.
This is a timely thread as I went to Jockey today for their bralettes. They're so comfortable! Again, I know I'm lucky to be able to use those as my every day.
Anyway, that aside, the woman took me for a fitting of what they call semi-custom bras.
She had me scoop and swoop! fuckstick Also, they size based on volume, not some circumference measurement. And the band size isn't different based on cup size, so it's easier to understand. Unfortunately, they didn't fit me as I'm at the very small end of their scale, but I really liked the feel and price (about $40).
I just thought I'd mention it because I don't know how many people have thought of them before.
