Ds2's big birthday party is today. His actual birthday was yesterday and my main takeaway from that experience was that today we're going to do presents before cake, because yesterday, the mess.... well, there will need to be an immediate bath. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GLUTTON BABY!
Saturdays I get up with the girls while DH sleeps in. I gave them their breakfast, they are in front of the tv, and it gives me time to enjoy my coffee outside for a bit.
I have a lot of cleaning to do today (alas no cleaning service for us) so I am basking in the quiet to get motivated to start.
Today DD is having two girls over to celebrate her bday. It's princess themed. It's about to get princess crazy up in here!
For DD1 this year I took her and two friends to the movies and did a small popcorn/movie themed gift bag. So much better than the big class parties and she loved it.
It's a great day! In laws left early this morning. I got two 3.5 hour stretches of sleep last night. My brother (who lives in Chicago) happened to be on a ship for work that docked in Norfolk yesterday. He rented a car and drove up here last night meet his little niece! and changed his flight so that he flies out of here on Sunday instead of Norfolk.
Also we are planning to go to the state fair today and I hope DS willl love it!
Why does dd sleep until 630-7 on the weekdays but wake up at 530 on the weekend.? But dd and I got a little alone and one on one time before I woke dd2 to nurse.
I had to unpack every single box in our kitchen to find our coffee maker, but now I finally have coffee!
Living near my mom is the best. She took J out to the playground between 4-6 yesterday while I took a nap (instead of unpacking, oops) and then took him to her place for dinner when she came back and saw dinner was nowhere near happening here.
Omg. My back is killing me. I literally had to scoot down the stairs on my butt to go feed the animals. And then I got stuck between floors because I couldn't handle the pain to stand up to go down the other set of stairs. Fuuuuuck.
DD1's birthday party is today. I found this poster thing at party city on clearance for $1! There are a few other components around the house, too. I set it up after she went to bed and she nearly lost her mind this morning. She keeps thanking me for making the doors beautiful. Lol. She does not know that I also have a 30" Mylar balloon to inflate during her nap. Thank you, Amazon. I have other balloons and bought a small helium tank to save me time today. DH thinks I am nuts.
@merida - that sucks she felt she had to nurse in the bathroom. I nursed DD at Chili's the other day while my mom and I were there for lunch. I'm so much more comfortable nursing in public with the second kid. I did with my son but I was nervous/anxious about it at first. This time around, I'm like whatever, baby's gotta eat!

1:00 pm is an unusual time to have a first birthday, right? I'm an asshole, but I used D's nap time as an excuse not to go, but really that would kill his entire nap, and although he's normally flexible, he has to have at least a little sleep to be functional for the rest of the day. (Holy run-on sentence).

That's what time we had M's party. He usually wakes up from his first nap around noon. Sorry?
We measured DS yesterday and he is 38 and a half inches.
MINE TRAIN! RIVER RAPIDS!!!
I know @starry gets it.
DD has a stick with 44" marked for space mountain. She's reeeeaallllly close barefoot, and we go in 2 weeks. It's gonna be a close call!
At Disneyland the height requirement for SM is only 40"!
Have her wear a hat and when she gets measured, lift the hat up a little. I remember doing this when my brother was a hair shy of being tall enough for Indiana Jones b
M figured out how to open the diaper pail and threw in a piece from his shape sorter. Gag. Guess it's time to start licking the diaper pail.
That typo is killing me! Lol
We're going to an event this morning called "digger days", where kids can get up into the cab of tractors and other construction equipment and with the help of the operators can use the controls to move dirt, etc.
Dd looooves using the controls on my uncles tractor. She's excited for today but I just hope she doesn't get too shy and then refuse to do it. Hoping that's one thing she grows out of this year!
I'm getting my color done in a little while and don't really know what they are going to do. Something about balyage highlights...some a little darker than the ombré I have, some a little lighter & pulling more of my natural color down to blend it all...
DS is obsessed with dinosaurs right now and tries to roar. It's so cute!

It's becoming apparent that DD has some perfectionist tendencies. She had a huge meltdown a little while ago because she tried to draw a butterfly and didn't think it looked good enough.

We're taking the girls to a sunflower field later today to try and do a family photo. We decided this morning so now I have to try and pick an outfit that fits and goes with what the girls are wearing.
Big huge 50th birthday party for my BIL and SIL today. It's a surprise and I was sure someone would blow it, but I think we may have pulled it off!
DS is going down for an early nap so we can be there on time, I was up late making a side/sangria/dessert so I'm hoping to nap too. This party will be an all day event with 100+ people!
