This morning. My husband heard a loud thud and came upstairs and I was seizing on the floor. Paramedics came and took me to the ER, where they concluded I don't have any tumors, but that's it. I am supposed to follow up with a neurologist. I am kind of slightly freaking out. They said that in an X-ray of my neck (I hit it when I fell), they found small thyroid polyps, so I have to follow up on that, too. I'm slightly freaking out. Ok, totally freaking out. Anyone have any experience?

No direct experience, but my brother randomly got a seizure once. The doctors guessed that his was brought in by a combination of dehydration, lack of sleep, and playing a video game (he had been at a sleepover, and they had stayed up most of the night, then were playing some game the next morning). The game didn't have strobing lights or anything, just a regular video game. Seemed to be just a completely random incident and never happened again. Hopefully yours was something similar, but I can definitely understand being a little freaked. Get plenty of rest and take good care of yourself. Sending you positive vibes!

I had a seizure in my sleep almost 3 months ago that woke my DH up. First and only time. I was also referred to a neurologist. I had to have a EEG, cat scan and MRI. All of my results came back normal. I hope for the same for you. It is definitely scary. My neurologist said about 10% of the population will have a seizure basically for no reason that they can pinpoint and never have one again.

I'm sorry. How scary. Hugs.
Re the thyroid, I wouldn't freak out just yet. It is very, very common to find benign thyroid nodules as incidental findings during other tests. Most times they turn or to be nothing.

Very scary. I know someone who also had a onetime random seizure. She ended up fine, but her doctor made the state pull her license for six months while they waited to see if it would happen again.

I drank a lot of wine last night and then woke up at 4:00 unable to sleep, so I was definitely suffering from both dehydration and lack of sleep when I woke up this morning. I hope that's all it was.

That's so scary! One of my students had a seizure while we were in China this summer. They said it was likely dehydration since her scans came back normal. I'm sorry that happened to you! Hopefully it was a one-off.

Did they check your thyroid levels (tsh/t3/t4)? Thyroid issues can cause all types of problems and your seizure could be related. Thyroid polyps are 99% benign and even worst case scenario it is easily treated and has a very high cure rate. I'm sending good thoughts.
Scary. Sending good thoughts for you and your husband. I witnessed an epileptic seizure that lasted about 15 minutes, or at least it seemed like it... I was a teen. It was terrifying so I have a lot of sympathy for your husband.

Thank you! I don't know if they checked any of that. I wish I didn't have to wait until Monday to make an apt with a neurologist.
