I so can't wait until the first license with her name is used in a SSM... I really want the officiant to say, "And with the power vested in me and signed reluctantly by Kim Davis, I now pronounce you spouse and spouse!"
I'm catching up because my calendar has been crazy this week. Is she really going to sit in jail until she resigns or agrees to comply? I figured the judge would be pissed, but I did bot expect that.
I feel many curse words when I think about her (and Mike Huckabee's) general assbackward attention whoreing fuckery. Persecution of Christians my ass. IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT YOU! How about persecution of the people that, I don't know, WANT TO GET MARRIED BUT YOU REFUSE TO LET THEM?! HOW IS THAT NOT FUCKING PERSECUTION! DID YOU EVEN GO TO SCHOOL?
Kim Davis later rejected the compromise worked out by her lawyers who wanted her freed if she agreed not to interfere when the deputy clerks acted on the licenses.
She rejected her lawyers' compromise? Wow. She is hardcore.

I wonder what she would have felt if, say, when she went to file for one of her several divorces, the clerk handed her papers back to her and said No, I'm a Christian and I don't believe in divorce, and I'm not going to place my imprimatur on your request to file because I believe I'll go to hell if I do; go get divorced somewhere else, hopefully those clerks will let you file.
Damnit Sue, Jesus forgave her, she's a new woman, why you gotta be judging her like that? She's not even the same woman she was for the first 45 years of her life.

That's actually true in her eyes, and the eyes of many Christians. But I would love to ask these questions of her: Did she ever refuse a marriage license to someone she knew to be divorced? Did she ever refuse to file divorce papers? If the answer to either of these questions is NO, then I would to say there's more to it than her holier-than-thou attitude.

And ironically, though Jesus never spoke about gay marriage, he had plenty to say about divorce.
Since apparently she's only been a Christian since 2011, I'm curious what her justification would have been to deny marriage licenses for same-sex couples before then. Something like "It's icky!"
I know, it's just speculation. But, I'm alarmed about how many elected officials obviously don't know the rules regarding separation of church and state. We're not persecuting Christians, we're just holding them to the letter of the law.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."
How can this even be legal? She cannot "authorize" her deputies to break the law, can she?
I don't know how it works in Kentucky, but in my state, certain staff serve at the pleasure of the elected official they work for and can be fired at any time (an employee could later allege discrimination and sue, but they may be very afraid of losing their jobs).
I still think it would be illegal for her to fire them for refusing to violate the law, regardless of whether she appointed them or not.

I actually think this would be a valid question if the judge wanted to determine the extent of her "sincerely held religious beliefs."
Except that her beliefs are actually irrelevant. Allowing her to continue her job as she wants while not fulfilling part of federal law and denying constitutional rights to others is not how religious accommodation works.

I totally agree with you; and was only referring the part of it where people are judging her for the hypocrisy of refusing licenses, considering her own "sins".
Her beliefs are indeed irrelevant. Whether it's your religion or your own moral (or immoral) code that guides your path, when a new law changes how you have to do things at work, you have to decide whether to put your own values aside and just do it, or to take a risk, step down, and say, "I'm sorry I just can't do that." You don't get to just dig in your heels like a toddler and cry.
As for religious accommodation; speaking as a Christian, I fully believe that my religious rights do not give me the right to trod on your rights. That's not the way this country is supposed to work, and frankly, that's the way I believe my God wants it to work.

Someone linked her actual Twitter (Husband 4.0 is currently using it) and it's...wow. She really thinks she's the next Rosa Parks or MLK. twitter.com/kimdavis917
