I had my first appointment yesterday. I should be 8.5 weeks, but the doctor couldn't find a heartbeat and said I was only measuring 7 weeks. He had me get bloodwork to be sure but said it probably is a "miss." He was so vague about the whole thing that I didn't even realize what he was trying to tell me at first. He's not my favorite doctor in the practice, and in fact I only saw him one time each during my first two pregnancies - he was the one who freaked us out when I was 38 weeks with Em by sending me for a growth ultrasound because I was measuring small, and she ended up a perfectly average birth weight - and it makes me wish I had held out to see my preferred doctor.
Anyway, I'm waiting to hear back about the blood results today. The thing is that my BBT is still way elevated, I haven't had any bleeding or spotting, and I certainly FEEL pregnant, what with the nausea and fatigue and sleeplessness and constant peeing and OMG bloat, but I also don't want to get my hopes up. I'd appreciate any thoughts and prayers you can spare. TIA.
aweee Kristin no advice I hope everything is ok, i will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!! its a good sign that you still feel preg! Have you had any bleeding?
Did you get an ultrasound? I hAd the same thing with Sophia re measuring behind and no heartbeat and it turns out I was 3 weeks less pregnant than I thought.
papie, I had a vaginal ultrasound. He asked if I could be wrong about my dates, and while my chart shows that I ovulated two days later than their usual 28 day cycle guideline would suggest, that doesn't account for a week and a half.
Were you charting? Did you not realize you ovulated late?
revolution, he was like, "you can get a second opinion in a week if you want but it probably isn't necessary" or something. I didn't like the guy after my first pregnancy, thought he might not be bad after all my second pregnancy, and now I officially hate him. If my bloodwork comes back positive, I am going to request my preferred doctor next week and refuse to see this guy ever again.
I'm sorry Kristin. I hope the dates are wrong but when I had my missed miscarriage, no heartbeat was found but I still had all my pregnancy symptoms. Your bloodwork will come back positive because HCG is still in your system. I had bloodwork done after that ultrasound and the numbers were still consistent with how far along I was at the time.
During the appt I was told my dates were probably off and I was just really early. A week and a half later I started bleeding and then had another ultrasound where there had been no growth or heartbeat. I had a D&C that day.
The bloodwork would be helpful if you had it done before and then again recently. If the numbers have gone down or hadn't gone up much since the last draw, that would tell you something. You haven't had spotting so I think that's a good sign.
