HUH? I mean, yeah, I'm sure they do have better things to worry about but SHE HIT YOUR CAR. Being pregnant shouldn't be an excuse for not being a responsible driver. You'd think that being pregnant would make someone hypervigilant, but nope, she rear ended you. Baby or no baby, it's on her.
I would probably take it and get an estimate before making a decision.
I think it is well within your rights to ask her to pay. Unless there is some reason to think she can't afford it, I don't think you have anything to feel bad about (and even if she seemed like she can't afford it, I guess - not your problem).
If $100 isn't much money to you and you feel like being nice, I don't think you're crazy for not pursuing it either.
Definitely get your car looked over. My husband was hit, the car looked fine, but his frame was bent and the insurance said his car was a total loss. Fairly new car - worthless. You can't replace the frame. He was given a check for a new car.
Yes - she should pay. I would even consider contacting insurance companies at this point.

I would take the car in to make sure nothing else is damaged, then ask her for the money. She hit you and you're doing her a favor by not filing against her insurance.
Get your car checked out ASAP. You're been super nice by not contacting her insurance company even if you do end up needing some $$ from them. But if the damage is significant you might have to get insurance involved. She hit you, that's how life works.
I rear-ended someone once when I was young and stupid. She was a middle-aged woman and I'm sure took pity on my poor college self freaking out. Her bumper was scratched a bit and she at first said she wanted it fixed professionally and was going to call insurance, but later she called me and told me that she and her H decided they'd just paint it themselves instead and asked me for $20 for paint. I was ssooo relieved, that woman did me a HUGE favor. Even if it had been $100, that would still have a been a huge favor.
Definitely get your car checked asap. And anything that's a result of this accident, she pays for. No offense, but paying for your own repairs because she's about to have a baby is foolish.

I just wonder whether its really possible that the rear ending threw out your alignment. It's not bitchy to ask her to repair your car for damage that is the obvious result of the accident, but for things that aren't so obvious, i dunno.

If it was fine before the accident, which was yesterday, and today it's not, I can't imagine what else could have caused it. Who is to say what's obvious? Things may be obvious to the repair place that wouldn't be obvious to the average car owner.

Ditto getting your car checked out. I was rear ended and could only see minor scratches. Then the body shop removed the bumper and discovered $2k in damages underneath.
I would contact your insurance company as a CYA move and open a report, then I'd take it in to have it checked out. Then I would contact her with the estimate and ask her to pay. The insurance report is if she decides to back out (which happened to me once) so they can process it.
But yeah, I agree that the fact that she's pg doesn't mean she should be exempt from paying for damage to your car. So what if she has a lot on her plate? So do a lot of other, non-pregnant, people.

I seriously come here for awesome threads, but even more awesome responses from you miso.

THIS!!! I'd probably get at least 2 places to look at it just to be sure that one place didn't overlook anything.
I'd file a claim with your insurance. You don't need to pursue if you don't want to, but good to have it on record, especially if there's something major. My BF got in an accident in my car, very minor damage on the fender that ended up being $700+ to repair. Since I already have a $500 deductible, not worth it to have an accident on my record so I didn't pursue, but I still think better safe to go the official channel in case something bigger turns up and she contests.

I do not disagree! But i have to be an engineer here and take issue with this accident being the cause of hte alignment problem.
many people drive around without knowing their alignment is wrong. a rear end bump, that doesn't even dent or scratch a plastic bumper is, to me, questionable as to the cause an alignment issue, unless it hit the wheel or made a wheel hit a pothole.
i'm not saying it isn't possible, but on the list of probable damage from a minor rear end hit, it seems questionable. and for that i would be pissed if someone was trying to make me pay for damage i didn't cause.

Agreed. I cant believe we even have to ask such things.

This was my thinking as well, at first. I was thinking that maybe OP just didn't notice that her car was pulling before. However, a quick Google search does indicate that being rear ended could cause alignment to be off.
Either way, I think if she caused damage she should pay. I don't think there's anything wrong with getting it checked out and contacting her. Personally, I would wait to contact insurance if you believe she will pay out of pocket, because DH has had a couple of accidents where the other driver was at fault and our insurance has gone up.
Breeders don't get an exemption from paying for damages they caused.
This. If you hit her, you bet your ass she'd be taking her car in and going to the doctor and sticking you w/ the bill. She seemed nice about it - why treat her differently?

eh, I hate when people go looking for problems because I think some car shops will help you find something, if you know what I mean. But if right away you notice the alignment was off then I think that's valid.
