Don't do it! I have an hour and a half commute and it drives me insane. Been doing it for two years and it's about to make me snap. You lose flexibility and so much of your valuable time.
I already am...too late!
I was looking for hope that I could change my perspective and try to enjoy the solitude or something. lol

When I lived in Houston I commuted from the north side to downtown everyday and it was easily an hour each way. It didn't bother me at first but after awhile it wore me down. i was single with no kids but my days seemed sooooo long especially in the winter when it would be dark by the time I got home. Also, I didn't take the bus because it would have been out of my way to catch it so I sat in traffic every day. It made me so grumpy.
My commute is just over an hour by PT. I live about 15 minutes away from work but with traffic it is usually between 45 minutes and 90 minutes and I can't handle that. I walk to the train (10 minutes), then 35 minutes train ride, then 5 minutes walk to the metro, 10 minutes metro, and then 5-10 minute walk to my office. I only go in to work 2-3 times a week and work from home the other days. To me, it's just a normal part of city life. I mean, even when I lived in the city instead of the suburbs, it was 45 minutes between the walk and metro.
Oh and H commutes about 55 minutes (10 minute walk, 35 minute train, 10 minute walk). He had a job for 18 months where he only had a 15 minute drive, but it killed him to work in the middle of nowhere, he really missed going downtown every day, lol.
Fyc I am lucky that I have park and ride as an option, even if it takes me 20 minutes to get there. I did the whole drive myself for a month and a half before I decided it was too much.
I wish I could take public transit because my job is super accessible for that. But if I did, it would take over 3 hoursĀ
I did this for a year and a half (3 hour each-way commute).
