I voted this AM - I normally do early bird voting but didn't get to this year.
So I look up where I need to go to vote (local elementary school) and I head there when they open. I am expecting a huge line. Nope - 1 lady walked in with me and one gentleman at the table being helped. I stand in my line for last names L-Z, the lady who walking in with me stands in her line of last name A-K.
The volunteer behind the desk seems to be having a problem and a man comes over to assist. The guy waiting to get his code to vote starts yelling about how he already showed his ID and just needs the code to vote. All he is trying to do is vote. For some reason the volunteer man starts digging through all the papers looking for the guy's license. The other lady calls me up so I walk up and the volunteer man tells me to get back in line. So I do. The guy waiting to vote is getting more irate. He opens his wallet and shoves his ID in the volunteer man's face. He yells again about how all he needs is the code so he can go vote. And they need to get some English speaking people there to properly do the job. And something else I couldn't make out about people not being born someplace. The lady calls me up again, I walk up and the volunteer guy tells me to go back in line - one at a time. Oooooookay. Kind of defeats the purpose of having 2 lines but whatever.
Angry dude gets his code and everything calmed down. I was half thinking I wonder what he would've done if he had a gun on him? and then I assume he is voting NO on Prop 1 (equal rights thing here in Houston - people who identify as a gender can use that gender's bathroom. The scare tactic ads have been saying how this will allow men/rapists/pedophiles to follow your young daughter into the bathroom and showers).

We had mayoral and council seats up for election today. We can vote at any polling place in the city/county. So I went close to work. The mayoral candidate that I was voting for was actually outside greeting people (but more then 50 feet away from the actual polling place). That's my exciting story.
the only position up for an actual vote is family court judge so i voted on that.
the only bit of juice out of my morning was some old lady tried to jack my car. apparently we drive the exact same car down to the first 3 digits of the license plate.
what have i learned today? i drive an old lady car.
I checked online to see if I needed to bring anything to vote today and double check my registration. It says I'm not registered. I filled out the form and signed it so I'm not sure what happened. Should I still try to vote?
I've never voted in person so I was excited to go.
We had no line this morning at my polling place and the same little old ladies that run things every election. The really fun part was hearing DS narrate my votes to everyone. Loudly. He was super excited about the future voter sticker and free donut afterward though.
I'm so nervous. Tonight we find out if our ultra-conservative, Tea-party, Koch-backed school board majority gets recalled.
I checked last night and my ballot has been processed (most people vote by mail-in here).
The amount of money that Americans For Prosperity has spent here is insane. Local control, yeah right! I hope JeffCo throws the Kochs out on their asses, along with the three idiots (seriously, at least two of them I truly doubt their ability to comprehend complicated subjects) on the BOE.

I had no line and it went smoothly, although the poll workers said it had been a busy morning, which is good!
We have quite a few positions to vote on And we had a ballot measure to allow a license so we can have a restaurant or bar that sells alcohol in our town. I was us prided at how contested it was, so I made sure to go vote yes.
I voted today in Kentucky where we have races for governor, secretary of state, auditor, treasurer, and commissioner of agriculture. Turnout was so low this morning. They are expecting less than 30 percent, which is disgraceful.
I went to vote and when she scanned my DL another person's info came up. Same first and last, but different middle name and address. So now I have to go to the DMV. And I won't be able to vote today.
And this is why our TX government is so fucked up. They can't get anything straight.

Oh hell no! I would be raising holy hell about that!
We have some fun ballot questions, and some interesting races. I expect a new school board.
Voted by mail like two weeks ago.
Did you read through The Stranger's endorsement guide? I was laughing so hard!
So these bullshit votes are nonbinding and we have to go through these bullshit motions only because Eyman wanted to harangue people every time our democratically elected legislature democratically approved anything that might result in the state having a little bit more money to spend. .... Vote maintained on all of them, because fuuuuuuck you, Tim Eyman.
We only have mail-in voting. Dropped mine off at our ballot box yesterday.

OMG, I would be RAGING.
Oh I am. And what's weird is that my H and I sent ours in together and his was processed. He was also previously registered in this county, but as a R. So I've got all kinds of tin foil theories about that given the very conservative county I live in.

That is so fucked up; an error on their part shouldn't disenfranchise you! Do they have any system for provisional ballots?

Nope. I could only get a provisional if I had lost a mail-in ballot.

Our area's school board person is the only one running for reelection. My, the choice words about her!
I love The Stranger's unbridled hate for Tim Eyman.

jln -- that sucks! I am over in Alief area (not sure if its more R or D to be honest) and the check in process was OLD school. Like they had to write my voter # and name onto a 4 part carbon copy slip for it to be inputted into computers later on.
Houstonians -- do you think Prop 1 (equal rights ammendment) is gonna pass?
