I'm worried. On NPR earlier someone was saying it doesn't look good for Prop 1 because of the higher turnout for early voting, which was apparently mostly Republicans and black voters, with R's leaning heavily "No" on prop 1 and black voters split, maybe leaning a little towards "No". Commentor was saying they should have focused more on the economic repercussions than the discrimination side to get more people voting "yes". :/
Short story... It authorizes a property tax to pay for vouchers. Each registered voter gets $100 in vouchers per election cycle to 'donate' to candidates for city office.

No stories on my end. I'm going to vote after work and there are only two races - one for our new DA since the previous one is now our House rep, and the other for my city council district. The latter has a conservative R candidate running opposed. He's one of the oddball New York Rs that doesn't fit in with the usual R voters here; he is VERY socially conservative, but because he's running unopposed people won't care. I hope I can write in someone.
It's 100% mail-in, and they kick you off if a ballot gets returned. They won't forward. So, you don't find out until your ballot just never shows up, and by then, it's too late to register.
And since I have no idea where I'll be living next election time (like, February), it's not worth updating. Which means I'll inevitably forget to update I went through the same exact thing last year at this time.
Did you read through The Stranger's endorsement guide? I was laughing so hard!
So these bullshit votes are nonbinding and we have to go through these bullshit motions only because Eyman wanted to harangue people every time our democratically elected legislature democratically approved anything that might result in the state having a little bit more money to spend. .... Vote maintained on all of them, because fuuuuuuck you, Tim Eyman.
We only have mail-in voting. Dropped mine off at our ballot box yesterday.
Our area's school board person is the only one running for reelection. My, the choice words about her!
I love The Stranger's unbridled hate for Tim Eyman.
I mean... How can you not live for lines like this:
Tim Eyman is a skid mark that just won't fade in a state that can't afford new underwear because Tim Eyman bankrupted it.Â

I dropped off our ballots today. Nothing really interesting on ours or during drop off. We do have a bond a levy on a new city/county jail. I voted yes, but I also wish they would have asked for an extra $200/yr for rehabilitation and reduced fines rather than a building.
Only three things on the ballot today. Voted this am, took 2/3 kids and I felt a little bad that the oldest wasn't there as it was my first time voting without him since he was born.He likes to be in the loop and get the sticker Nobody was in there. One person came as I was leaving. Voted with just my information (verbally) and my signature. Super easy process.
We have some fun ballot questions, and some interesting races. I expect a new school board.
Voted by mail like two weeks ago.

So many provisional votes this time, f you Tim Eyman. Just let the people we elect do their jobs. I hate him so much.
So...that's it? No voting at all today despite showing up and showing them the ID they require?
I'd be preparing for a fight. This is so wrong.
I don't know what to do. I called the election office and she said to mail in a reg card so I can vote next time. I'm not sure what to do to fight it.
According to votetexas.gov, you have the right to ask for a provisional ballot and there is nothing indicating that you can only receive one in certain situations.
We have a mayoral seat and a city commission seat open, as well as school bonds. Ours are all absentee, which is fabulous. I voted for a 2 time female commissioner for mayor and against a long time male commissioner who is a douchebag that made me cry at work last spring. I voted for the school bonds.

I dropped off DH's and my ballots at the polling place. Important stuff here; but will all probably go the wrong way. Trying to get San Francisco out from under the authority of the developers who are trying to remove all locals in order to build more condos. :/
I'm so nervous. Tonight we find out if our ultra-conservative, Tea-party, Koch-backed school board majority gets recalled.
I checked last night and my ballot has been processed (most people vote by mail-in here).
The amount of money that Americans For Prosperity has spent here is insane. Local control, yeah right! I hope JeffCo throws the Kochs out on their asses, along with the three idiots (seriously, at least two of them I truly doubt their ability to comprehend complicated subjects) on the BOE.
You're nervous? I guess I am, too, because that would suck if the recall fails. But everyone I know is voting yes. The recall folk have been out in force and I'm feeling pretty confident. :::knocks on wood!:::
Of course, I have seen any poll numbers. Are there poll numbers?!?
A friend of mine went to vote in NYC two and a half hours after the polls opened and was the FIRST one there. He said that 3 of the 5 people running for the 5 seats up for election have corruption stories that are rather recent. So he wrote in 3 of his friends who are lawyers and then voted for the other two.
My polling place has 3 voting booths. I had to wait for someone to finish, and the poll worker mentioned that it's unusual today that there would be a wait. My husband was using one of them, though.
Do you guys have someone hand you a little slip/token that you then have to hand to another poll worker before voting? You have to walk like 5 feet from the registration table to the voting booth, so it seems like overkill.
ETA: PA has supreme court elections, and is one of the only states where the candidates state their party. I voted straight Dem for that, obviously. We also have some county level stuff, school board, and borough council. The school board open forum I went to last week was a hoot. Well, the borough council one was, too. Especially the woman who thinks it's the borough's responsibility to provide her with a private parking space in front of her house for her Chevy Suburban.

I don't know if there are poll numbers, but I'm in a couple of the FB groups and someone posted something about early returns being very heavily Republican. I don't know where that data comes from and I don't think any official counts of what those voters are actually voting for/against are available yet, but it does make me nervous at this point.
I just can't believe how nasty it's gotten. All the AFP-funded commercials, Julie Williams claiming that her son with ASD was "used" in an anti-BOE "parade" even though the district investigated and found zero evidence of that; people claiming that Planned Parenthood is a "big funder" of the recall (they apparently sent out one email in support, because after the American History debacle, sex ed was also on WNW's list of curricula that they wanted to re-examine and you can imagine how THAT would go).
I went to vote and when she scanned my DL another person's info came up. Same first and last, but different middle name and address. So now I have to go to the DMV. And I won't be able to vote today.
And this is why our TX government is so fucked up. They can't get anything straight.
I would be furious! And why the hell are they scanning your DL? I live in Houston and I only have to show my id (which is a different issue) and it was like, yup, I have your name, here you go.

Austin here, but they scanned my ID today, too. I don't remember if they did or did not last election. Something was up with how it scanned, though, and so the lady had to type my info into the computer to verify and get my voter code. I think DH's was fine.

Same. Just hand over my DL, sign next to my name in the book, get the slip with my # on it, and vote. It was really painless.
The old people enjoyed waving to DD.
I really hope Prop 1 passes and that state prop 2 does not. I'm not hopeful on prop 1, though
I just went back and apparently the provisional ballot takes 20 minutes or more to set up so I had to leave. But I'll go back in an hour and finally *hopefully* vote. And tonight I'll be filing a complaint.
We have a hotly contested town council election going on. Newcomers vs Incumbents! Developers vs Lifelong Residents! I'm excited to see how it turns out.
I'm not a resident of City of Charleston but we are getting a new mayor after 40 years of our current mayor; that's going to be an interesting transition as well.
I voted! The election judge told me that my vote probably won't be counted by I could vote next time. I reminded him that every election is important and will be filing an official complaint. He then said he appreciated my "tenacity" and willingness to try 3 times to vote.
