Not a baby/kid related question...
I need to buy an xmas present for a cousin that lives in Australia. If I wanted to order something off Amazon should I order it from the USA site and ship it directly to them in Australia or order it from the amazon.com.au site?
If you are OOT for the weekend do you stop what you are doing during the day to let your kid nap?
We are going away for the weekend to do some Christmas shopping and I am debating if we should stop in the afternoon to let DD nap or if we just hope that she has a stroller nap.

Mine never napped in the stroller, but she took some car seat naps on trips. Usually we tried to stick to her normal nap time and plan events around that.
Question for people whose kids moved all over the crib in their sleep. How did the bed transition go? Kind of nervous Bas will end up sleeping under the bed or something, lol. We'll probably get a bed rail to help contain him.
We put rails on both sides of DS' bed when we moved him to a full. It was a good few months where'd he'd end up all over the place a bit, but now he pretty much stays on the pillow all night, actually.

When DS still napped ( ) we would just let him nap in the stroller if we were out and about. He was a pretty good at napping in the stroller, though; not all kids are.
Do you add the powder or water first when making a bottle? DH and I have differing opinions. Is there a right/wrong way?
I add the water first. I added the powder first, but then it seemed like it took up space and there wasn't enough water. And if you haven't bought one of these, (or something similar) do yourself a favor and get one:
Question: the doctor convinced me at B's 6-month check-up this morning to try CIO. How much is it going to suck? (Alternate question: how much wine do I need to drink to keep myself from running in there when he's crying his heart out?)

I think you'll have to price it out. Did you check to see if the item you want is available on Australian amazon? They don't commonly do as much free shipping in Australia nor do the sell as much stuff on Amazon.com.au.

I think we'll put his bed against a wall so that'll help on one side, haha.
He takes after me and I mostly stay in the bed with my head on the pillow so I'm sure it'll be OK.
If the bed's going to be against the wall just be sure to check that the rail you get for the other side works as a single (i.e. We got a set of two rails, but you need to have both of them in place for them to work, because they join in the middle under the mattress.

I'd stop to get at least a short nap. Mine will sometimes fall asleep in stroller but they'd pry wake up once they heard me talk. I'm very big on keeping naps on schedule.

We usually stop for naps now. Back when DD was younger, she was a pretty reliable stroller sleeper though, so we'd go go go back in those days.

We've done both, depending on how difficult it would be to stop what we're doing and whether he really needs a good nap - eg if we want to minimize evening crankiness we'll work harder to get a good nap in.
We went to the aquarium this past weekend and attempted a stroller nap - it only lasted 20 min and we had a very rough evening. But there wasn't really anywhere else for him to nap unless we left the aquarium and drove around.
Oh, this is a good point. We don't have anywhere to be in the evening so she could go to bed early if she needed to.
Question: the doctor convinced me at B's 6-month check-up this morning to try CIO. How much is it going to suck? (Alternate question: how much wine do I need to drink to keep myself from running in there when he's crying his heart out?)
Tonight will probably suck - but by the end of the weekend it won't be too bad at all. We did naps and night all at once. So if it were me I'd wait until Friday so your Thanksgiving isn't in the middle of sleep training.
I'll be right there with you after Christmas. But I've already sleep trained 2 kids, so I know that while it does suck when you are doing it - i usually gets better pretty quickly . But I still plan on drinking lots of wine at bedtime, probably nap time too - lol.

How old is your baby? I think our babies are almost the same age. We did Ferber with DS when he was 7 months old and I wish we did that earlier! How old is it "ok" to start? 5 months?

When you use the pitcher do you serve the formula chilled or just leave it out to make it room temp? I don't know if I could get DD to drink cold formula. She's fussy about temperature.

She'll be 3 months old tomorrow. Our pedi says it's okay starting at 4 months. DS1 was a colicky, non-sleeping kid and pedi suggested it at his 4 month appointment. The first day or two was really hard, but after about 4 days we were finally on a decent nap schedule (although he still cat napped until about 5.5/6 months old) and were down to just one night wake-up for a quick feeding. It worked so well that even though DS2 was a pretty decent sleeper we Ferber'ed at 4.5 months old just to ditch the swaddle and the paci. He only cried maybe 10 mins at the most on the first night. So we are just going to give it a shot again with DD.
We recieved a photo session as a gift (heart) and have until the end of next year to use it. When should we get photos taken? 6 months?A year? Some other time?

I would do it at that sweet spot when they are sitting but not crawling. For us it was a while - from 7 until 11.5 months but I think most kids crawl sooner.
@vicmo - I was nervous since DD would sleep in all kinds of wacky positions in her crib, but seriously, once she was in a twin bed with her head on a pillow and snuggled under covers, she didn't budge. GL!

Catching up now, lol. We have the pitcher but don't use it now since E only has 1 or 2 bottles at home every day. When we used it though we kept it in the fridge because a prepared bottle is only good for an hour unless refrigerated, then it's 24 hours. We had a bowl in the sink to put the bottle in and filled the bowl with hot water for a few min to warm it up but some babies will take cold bottles.
I don't fly often so don't laugh at how dumb this is.
If we bring an iPad to keep DS occupied, do we just keep the sound on low? A 17 month old isn't going to wear ear buds...
I got semi flamed for admitting this once, but I kept the volume low. There is so much white noise drowning it out. I figured if I could barely hear it while sitting next to DS, no one else could.
On the way home, the people behind us were shocked to realize a 2yo was in front of them when we got off, so I think it was quiet enough.
How many bibs do I need for a newborn? What about knit hats?
I think this is pretty dependent on the type of baby you have. M was a spitter so we needed 30,000 bibs to keep up with the mess. He rarely wore hats, but he was born in June...

E has like 15 bibs, but he's a reflux baby AND drooly, who goes through 4 bibs on a bad day. So, I think that's kid-dependent. I started using them when he was about a month old, I think.
Hats, um.... We don't really use them at all. It hasn't really gotten cold here yet, and he wears a hoodie when I take him out for a walk in the evenings now.
