I wonder how this is going to be spun. Is he going to be another mentally ill young man who was angry at women who didn't want to date him? I guarantee the anti-choice crowd isn't going to claim him and we're never going to hear the word terrorist.
The above assumes the shooter is white. He'll be a "thug" if black and a terrorist if not.

Well they're already trying to spin it as if he was "just a bank robber."

The republican congressman CNN randomly chose to talk to about this already threw out the mentally ill line. Also said something about how if he targeted PP then he wasn't representative of the actions PP "commits" and "we all saw that barbaric video" blah blah blah.

Security concerns at the clinic were high enough that the clinic had a “security room” with a supply of bulletproof vests, but, according to an officer on the scanner, some of the vests are still in the room, and one may have been worn by the gunman.
That's always been the case there I think. The springs is a hotbed of anti choice activism.
Bullet proof glass has been used in many of the coins where I've volunteered, in different states
Really CNN? A republication congressman to comment on this?
I think they all need to answer for this bullshit. Women literally put their lives in the line to get legal health-care. Men and women do it to provide care.

I've actually had this tab open on my iPad for a month and this is a good place to drop it.
Let’s Call Clinic Violence What it is: Domestic Terrorism. In the past few weeks, Planned Parenthood clinics have seen an increase in anti-choice violence, likely ignited by the heavily edited videos from a sham anti-choice, extremist organization. These attacks are nothing new — they’re part of a very long history of violence from an extreme minority.
By the Numbers: According to the National Abortion Federation, which been compiling statistics on incidents of violence and disruption against abortion providers for nearly 40 years:
Since 1993, 8 clinic workers — 4 doctors, 2 clinic employees, a clinic escort, and a security guard — have been murdered in the United States. 17 attempted murders of clinic workers occurred since 1991. Over 6,900 reported acts of violence against abortion providers since 1977, including bombings, arsons, death threats, and assaults. 19,000+ reported acts of disruption, including bomb threats, hate mail, and harassing calls since 1977.
Why does this matter? Abortion providers, clinic workers, and clinic escorts have dedicated their lives to ensuring women get the health care they need without judgement, shame, or stigma. But highly charged, false, and misleading anti-choice rhetoric leads to a climate where violence against abortion providers is tacitly condoned and passively encouraged. More and more American women are at risk of losing access to safe and legal abortion. Anti-choice extremists have created an atmosphere of intense violence & intimidation that deters physicians from providing abortion services. The anti-choice movement has a long history of violence, and the cycle is repeating itself. It was only 6 years ago that Dr. George Tiller was gunned down in the pews of his church for providing abortion care. More and more American women are met by extreme verbal harassment and shaming outside reproductive health clinics. Those seeking health care should feel safe regardless of where they choose to receive care. Abortion opponents across the country use threats to harass and intimidate the women seeking care, the doctors who provide it, and even their family members at home — including young children. Let’s call this what it is: domestic terrorism. We cannot wait until one more doctor, nurse, or clinic escort is killed before we say “enough is enough.” The time is now for an investigation by the Department of Justice. Sign the petition! UPDATE: An intruder with a hatchet recently smashed up a New Hampshire Planned Parenthood clinic.

And you know what? Now is a good fucking time to talk about the utterly shitty and HORRIBLE things conservatives have said about PP and abortion on the regular. If he was indeed targeting PP, then I blame that for this event. Squarely. And this is why it has always been important to acknowledge the extremism on the Right regarding this topic.
I don't think there are any escorts. The way the building is set up there is a large parking lot in front of it and the protestors have to stay on the public sidewalk which is far away from the front door.

Even PP's on private property often have escorts. They just call them greeters, and they make sure the protestors don't violate FACE law and take notes on any incidents in addition to welcoming patients and ensuring they have ID to enter.
