Even PP's on private property often have escorts. They just call them greeters, and they make sure the protestors don't violate FACE law and take notes on any incidents in addition to welcoming patients and ensuring they have ID to enter.
I don't think there are any escorts. The way the building is set up there is a large parking lot in front of it and the protestors have to stay on the public sidewalk which is far away from the front door.

That's interesting, thank you for educating me. I remember that PP moved to this location a few years ago to cut down on patient harassment so I just assumed the escorts weren't needed.
I'm completely confused. Do they have the gunman yet? I see they were in a shootout recently, but nothing I've seen says that they have him in custody.

KKTV is reporting that they have an unconfirmed report the gunman has been detained. They're saying its from a very reliable source but the CSPD hasn't confirmed.

I've heard a similar report. I really really hope it's true.

Is anyone else annoyed by CNN's focus on the people in nearby stores, stuck while they were trying to Black Friday shop? I am 100% concerned for them and can't imagine what they are going through. But I'm not hearing the same level of concern for the people inside the clinic.
This is so awful. I am sick to my stomach for so many reasons.
.....the most selfish one is that I am sick for those police officer spouses, the call that your spouse has been injured is brutal as is the knowledge that your spouse is a responder and there isn't anything you can do but wait.

I guess it doesn't matter if he is. What matters is that we had reason to *think* he was trying to harm a clinic for political or religious reasons. That's how far escalated the issue is.

Hugs to you, gpw. That's got to be terrifying.
I keep thinking about the women in the clinic that may have just gone through an abortion or were mid-procedure when this went down. Is there some sort of safety mechanism in the exam rooms to lock the doors and keep people like this out during the procedure itself?

From the Atlantic
Updated at 7:17 p.m.
At least 11 people, including five police officers, were injured when a gunman attacked a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado on Friday. Officials noted the number could rise as they secure and process the crime scene. Police captured the suspected gunman at 4:52 p.m. local time; his identity remains unknown.
Details about the shooting remain fluid. A 911 call placed from the Colorado Springs clinic, located about 70 miles south of Denver, first reported a gunman at about 11:38 a.m. local time. A Colorado Springs Police Department spokesperson told The Gazette, a local newspaper, that police were “actively engaged” with the gunman inside the Planned Parenthood facility.
At an afternoon press conference near the site of the shootings, Colorado Springs Police Department spokeswoman Catherine Buckley said that the first shots began outside or near the building before the gunman moved inside. No details were available about the gunman’s identity, she added. Buckley also noted that Friday was a normal business day for the clinic, with patients and staff inside when the shooting began.
I just don't understand how it couldn't be a anti choicer. It can't be random. The NYT article said there are protesters there daily, sometimes as many as 200.

Despite being censured from several other media outlets, one of the Gazette people is still tweeting what she's hearing on the scanner. What.the.fuck.
Did you read her tweets? FFS she was essentially broadcasting the LE tactics, yet claimed she was informing the public.
Public being inclusive of the fucking shooter. Someone wanted more followers and to get retweeted by the Associated Press. I hope she gets fired, especially if it's discovered the shooter was using her tweets.
