I know I'm stating the obvious, but stay away from glass windows and doors that might break if bullets come through them. Maybe anything that could fall of the wall such as art or mirrors in case there are any other loud booms.

Holy hell. Stay safe. Many good thoughts to that poor woman.
I agree with leaving the blood for now. If later you do have to clean it up, we got blood out of concrete using dish soap and cold water and scrubbing (our dog had gotten cut and bled on our patio).
This is absolutely awful. Thank you for helping her.
There was a news story here that involved an injured person knocking on doors for help, and it made me question what I would do.
There have been incidents around here of casing homes using distressed women in the last month so that's why we took her through the garage. I felt like an ass for not running straight out to carry her inside but I had to make sure, you know?
I honestly don't even know what I would do. I wouldn't be able to let someone in, though I doubt anyone would climb our stairs. I'd have to tell them to go back down to the garage and open that. And hope like hell that H is home.
That is so, so scary.
Is there, like, a standard protocol? What are you supposed to do? Tell them to wait outside while you call 911?

Of course. You want to make sure that you are safe, because it's a scary world.
My heart breaks for her. And yeah, that sounds like a lot with a four hour standoff. Stay safe.

We immediately called 911, dispatch told us to clear the area and put her in backyard or garage. Thank goodness DH and are slightly trained. I bleached all the floors and counters inside just in case of blood spills. The EMTs took the bloody towels.
