I mean, he also might have taken off in the four hours it took them to get the warrant too, right? And how would this not have been exigent circumstances? And why did they bring in all this manpower to go in, but then just take off when he wasn't there? What about the woman? Isn't there a (pretty big) risk he will come after her if she's at a friend's? Why didn't the police send her to a shelter, or the station, at least umtil the man was in custody? So many questions. So many.

I think OP meant that her SISTER went to a friend's house b/c she couldn't get back to their house b/c of the stuff going on. I assume the victim is with police still.

They know he was in the house because they were trying to negotiate with him. They also heard him coughing from the gas. The snipers were pulled when the wind changed and they were also getting gassed, which is when our fed agent neighbor thinks he ran. He said they screwed up in so many operational ways that he saw so he's wondering what else was screwed before he started watching.
Victim was still with police last night. It sounds like she was helping them with ideas.

Oh my god, Amberly!! This is crazy! I hope they find him and I hope she's ok and I hope you and your family and the poor, scared dogs are doing alright! My goodness.
apalettepassion.wordpress.com/ WHO IS BONQUIQUI!?!?!?!??!
"I was thinking about getting off on demand, but it sounds like I should be glad that I didn't"
I'm so glad they found him. I really hope he gets put away for a long while, enough for that woman to get back on her feet and not go back to that cycle of abuse.
Thank god they found him. That police department did not really inspire confidence. I thought it was horrifyingly likely that the suspect was going to find his wife and kill her.
You are being a lot more calm about this than I would be. I cannot think of any reason for how the police handled this. Detaining the entire neighborhood for six hours so they could get a warrant was absolutely unjustified. There is a very, very slim chance any judge would have required a warrant to go into that house when the husband had a gun. Plus, it's a DV case, so a warrantless arrest was really the least of their concerns. Then they decided the guy was dangerous enough to warrant riot gear, but when he escaped, the police left and allowed an armed suspect to roam the neighborhood all night? And put your family in particular danger because you're the ones who called the police. Oh, and they left a biohazard behind, with no instructions on cleaning it?
I would be furious. Thank goodness nothing happened last night. I've handled civil rights cases against police who look like experts compared to your local police force. The only redeeming factor about this situation is that no one ended up hurt after the police got involved. This was ridiculous.
