Sorry for bumping old threads, but this article is spot on. My mom was moved to hospice last week & passed away her first day there. Before she was admitted, we were told some expenses wouldn't be covered. Who does everyone look to? Me...the youngest one who has two little kids. Even though my oldest makes a shitload more than I do & has two grown kids, she's terrible with $$, so somehow everything financial wise is my responsibility (my middle sister is 40 with two kids, no job & lived with my mom). My mom had a small $10k insurance policy & my two older sisters are at the funeral home picking out a casket for $8,000. Then I end up being the bitch bc I say no. It's just exhausting & infuriating. I am grateful that my in laws have estate plans, pre-paid funerals, and LTC polices and have refused to allow us to care for them at home when the time comes.

I'm sorry for your loss. I hope your sisters are a little more reasonable as you continue to deal with your mom's estate.

I'm so sorry for your loss and that it was made harder because of unreasonable expectations. (((hugs)))
