heyjude - you need to resurrect your Adnan-did-it discussion.
No ma'am. Nothing gets people fired up quicker than saying "Adnan did it." Last discussion involved someone (you?) saying I must have some personal connection. Lol. No thank you!!!!
Looking forward to the new season though and everyone becoming not only a lawyer but a national security expert!!!!
you truly helped me see things a different way--I am still not sure who did it, but I am not opposed to the idea of Adnan doing it, in part because of your points.

Anyone have a link to this thread?
ETA: Never mind, I found it. And I participated in it lol.
Ok I am tired of hearing people talk about this and having no idea what is going on. Where can I listen to the first season? I actually like being behind.
download the serial podcast on your phone and get to listening!

Can you link me (PM if you don't want to put it out there - my search function is a fail)?
FWIW, I think it probably was Adnan but I am damn sure there were shenanigans on the part of the prosecution, and I can't believe he wasn't acquitted because there's no way there wasn't reasonable doubt in that case.

I'm mostly here. The most likely person seems to be Adnan, but there seemed to be quite a few causes for concern on the prosecution's side.
This is not a snarky question even though it sounds like it. How do you strangle someone with your bare hands unintentionally?
I should clarify. I think the killing part was unintentional. I think he intended to do the act that killed her. I don't think he meant for it to kill her.

Huh. Do you mind if I ask you some questions about this?
What do you think the timeline for this was? Before 2:36? Why did Adnan involve Jay? Did Adnan pre-plan the act?

I don't know, man. I listened to Serial over a year ago.

I can't remember my theory entirely, but I thought about half-way through the podcast that it was maybe drug/gang related and someone Jay knew.
The facts I learned after forming that theory mostly supported it, with the white van fact being one of them. I also latched on to Jay's own story after the fact about how he was running a serious drug operation at the time.

Is Grandma Jay still alive? Someone needs to talk to her

LOL. That's fine. I'm admittedly #overinvested, so when someone proposes a theory I haven't heard before, I get pretty curious.
For what it's worth, every one of my friends that practice crim law agree with me. They also agree that based on what Serial discussed as what the evidence presented at trial was, he probably shouldn't have been found guilty.
Honestly, what made me convinced he did it more than anything was the number of times he said things like "why would I do it??" vs saying "I didn't do it."
Undisclosed (and Serial Dynasty/Truth and Justice, if you can get past Bob Ruff's dick waving) definitely should be your next stop. They go into so much more detail and actually correct some things Serial got wrong along the way, and it's quite eye opening.
Right after Serial, I never really believed Adnan did it, but was thoroughly convinced Jay either did it or was heavily involved.
After Undisclosed went into some details about how Baltimore handles murder investigations, I honestly think Jay wasn't involved either. I think he was fed stories by the investigators that fit their narrative (which had to change as more information was discovered, hence Jay's stories changing), and he was pressured into cooperating with them.
Lately, I've been leaning towards Don. The stuff with the time card and the fact that the 2 Lens Crafters locations involved with his alibi were managed by his mom and step-mom is just...not sitting right with me.

But have they listened to Undisclosed? Serial got a lot of facts wrong or mislead people for the sake of their timeline and the story.

Yeah, it's hard to discuss this case with someone who hasn't listened to Undisclosed. Particularly the cell location episode.

I honestly don't know and don't really care. I haven't listened to undisclosed and don't care to. I got about halfway through the first episode before I had to stop listening because their pro-Adnan bias was ridiculous.

I totally understand this. I really do. Rabia in particular is frustrating in this regard.
But (you knew that was coming lol) - the information they present about the cell location data is incredibly important, IMO. And in fact, the state's own cell expert has now publicly stated that the prosecution did not provide him with complete and accurate information and that if he knew then what he knows now, his testimony would've been different.
I sound like a rabid dog right now and I realize that

And as I said, I don't think what Serial discussed as what the state's case was at trial was sufficient to convict beyond a reasonable doubt. But again, most of my reason why i think he did it is based on absolutely nothing Serial talked about re: the trial or the evidence. So listening to Undisclosed really won't change my mind.

Between that, all the shady Brady violations on the part of the prosecution (the cover page of the cell tower pings, the expert's location data, etc), the way they took Don's falsified alibi at face value without looking into it and all the ways his lawyer sucked he didn't get a fair trial. I obviously don't think he did it anyway so there's that.

Ahh, I hear what you're saying. There's a difference between what is factually true and what is legally true. And I think a lot of people who are/were into the case put emphasis on one or the other.
I think he very well could have done it, but that doesn't change the fact that it was a terrible case with a lot of shady goings-on by the prosecution.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."
Theory: secret sexy gay affair between Jay and Don, Hae found out.
Or, accidental murder due to BDSM mishap. Look for my forthcoming podcast where I justify one or both of my opinions where I jam marbles into my mouth and fail to enunciate a goddamn thing.
We should do a podcast together. It'll be like Gilmore Guys, but we recap all of our favorite podcasts for the week. And we'll pontificate about which McElroy is the sexiest (Sydney, obvs) and the proper spelling of Susan's (lack of) pronunciation of "Goo-tare-ez".
