I'm sorry I was so happy when they were able to remove my second implanon/nexplanon under general anesthesia when I had my tubes tied. I'm extremely resistant to lidocaine, and removing the first one sucked.
I'm waffling on getting an IUD....I turn 35 next year and H has himself convinced that, because of the warnings about increased risk of stroke and blood clots, I need to stop taking BCP as soon as I turn 35.
He also, however, refuses to have himself snipped.
My doc said they're fairly fast and simple, but I keep hearing horror stories like this. ETA particularly as I haven't had children to "make it easier".
I haven't had kids. Insertion hurt, but it only lasted, like, 30 seconds. Then I had some cramping, but just period type cramping-no big deal. I love my mirena. No periods!
I've partially expelled 2 (Paragards), which then had to be completed by my GYN, and had 1 (Mirena) removed at the end of its life. All three were just like a pinch. Ouch for a second, then no problem. Similar to the discomfort of a pap. So, at least I can speak to it being possible to have really bad pain on insertion and then not bad on removal.
I hope that's true for me. No one I know had such an awful time getting one in so I have no frame of reference for getting it out. I have three more years left on it before DH and I have the talk about putting in a new one or getting him snipped.
I had a horrible insertion. Blood running down my butt and dripping all over the floor, I screamed multiple times (and yelled "fuck" twice at my very religious doctor's office), the whole shebang. It was pure fucking hell. Afterwards, sex felt like I had a knife in my uterus, my boobs were so sore shower water could bring me to tears, my whole and I mean WHOLE body exploded with acne, etc.
I've never been so miserable in my whole life. I had it taken out 2 1/2 months later and didn't feel a single thing. Not even a pinch or a pull. I hope your removal is as smooth as mine was.
