It's 8am on Christmas morning and I'm lying awake in my bed and no kids are awake yet!!! I can't believe it!! After all the excitement of the past week...
Oh man. Didn't realize until this morning that we didn't get ds2 any gifts from us. Poor, neglected second child. At least Santa didn't forget him. Although one of the two Santa gifts was labelled "to Ds2 from Ds2". Mommy and daddy were not on their A game this year haha. Ds1 is obsessed with the m&d coffee maker we got him.

Kids up at 6:00 (not bad - sometimes on "regular" days they try to get up before 5, just for funsies). Stockings and presents were opened by 6:30. Breakfast is cooking and my mom and ILs will be over to eat and exchange gifts in a while. Later today we'll go to SILs for dinner and more presents.
Everything was a hit, more or less. DS2 wants to go play outside in the sandbox with some of his new toys. Um, kid, it's still dark out and I just want to sit here and listen to Christmas music and relax. It's been quite a week of work and getting ready.

We had a terrible night last night (3 MOTN wake ups, WTH 20 month old child!) and L woke up at 4:42 in a very sour mood. Luckily that changed when we came downstairs and he saw his play kitchen. He played with it happily for 20 minutes or so before we could entice him to open his stocking and a few gifts. We've been at it for almost 2 hours and he still has 6 unopened gifts. He just wants to play with each thing as soon as he opens it. Oh well, we don't have to leave the house until noon so we can take all morning to slowly open one by one.

Merry Christmas! I'm just laying in bed, DH just took the baby downstairs to start coffee as he's too little to really understand. DS1 is still sleeping. I hope he wakes soon! I'm excited to see his reaction. He's three and really gets it this year!
J was up at 7 am on the dot, so we've already done santa. J was so excited about his fireman outfit and truck, and his new train set! H and J are now playing with the train set while I shower and get dressed and clean the bedroom for my parents impending arrival.
I've been up since 3:45. Stupid pregnancy insomnia. Going to hit the shower soon. DD is still sleeping. We will have to wake her up in about 30 min because we need to do our gifts and then leave for my parents house in 2.5 hours.
Merry Christmas! DD is still asleep, but DS is up. I'm tired because DS decided to wake up at 2am, 5:30, and 6:30. What happened to my baby who slept so well? I think he was going through a growth spurt and maybe still is, but I suspect I'm in for some rough nights as we re-sleep-train.

I'm so jealous of all of you with children who sleep later than their parents. My kid did not get that memo. That would've been the greatest gift ever!
How do you people with multiple kids handle Christmas morning? Especially if you have different sleep habits. Do your kids all go see the tree at the same time? Do you have to distract/entertain early riser until others wake? Does the early riser get the first peak but have to wait to open anything until everyone is up?
Brought to you by my nephew held captive in his room for an hour and a half this morning while DD slept, then he fell back asleep as soon as she woke. So now she's got an iPad and hasn't left the bedroom and I have no idea how long we're stuck here.
I've hated this game my entire life as I was the early riser in a family who liked to sleep in. Hands down ruins the excitement of waking up Christmas morning when you have to twiddle your thumbs for an hour+ waiting to see the tree.
I want ideas how to do it right with my (future) kids because my mom's way sucks.
We were all up at 7am, which is sleeping in around here. C is very excited about Santa having come, but we have to wait for SS to get dropped off at 9am before opening gifts.
H is distracting C with a movie in the basement while I make monkey bread for breakfast and shower. I heard lots of laughing and went down to check on them and found that my 2yo is watching Nitro Circus. Wth, H? Father of the year!

kategm my brother was the early riser. He would be up at 4;30 on Xmas. He was allowed to open his stocking. They were left at the door to our bedroom (no fireplace) and then allowed to wake me at 6 am. I think it was A fair compromise . I'm not sure how it worked when we were little little, but I pretty much remember being awakened by my brother every Xmas of my childhood.
Eta- once I was up we went to see the tree together.
DD puked spectacularly right before bedtime last night. Silver lining: she slept like the dead until 8:30 this morning.
She just drank a cup of pedialyte and is demanding "more juice." I'm picturing it coming back up all over me and trying to hold out for a bit. No fever but she just wants to be held or sit on my lap which is unusual morning behavior. Stomach bug I guess?
H and SIL are still asleep so I'm just snuggling the sick kid and staring at the pile of presents.
Merry Christmas indeed! I slept until 9:20, with a 6 am nursing session for DD but she went back to sleep until 9:20. So awesome. DS was awake by then but playing in his bed.
In a few minutes, we'll go downstairs and do presents! I can hear my mom in the kitchen getting breakfast made. DS is almost 2.5 so we are all so excited to see his reaction.
