I'm almost done with Fiery Cross. For some reasons, I have enjoyed it, but it seems a little slower than the other books. I do want to keep reading to find out where she is going with the story and what the next book is about. That is the fun about time travel books...just about anything could happen.

I just finished the fiery cross too! I thought it was pretty slow in the middle, but the last several chapters were excellent.
I go back and forth with the audio version and kindle version. I am curious about one thing though - does the narrator says "left tenant" instead of lieutenant? I keep thinking that is a different thing, but now that I think of it I'm pretty sure I haven't seen it in the print version. Lol.
I enjoyed it a lot more on subsequent rereads. The pace is a lot slower than the others, it was a bit of a slog the first time.
Upon rereading, I had full appreciation for the horniness and sex.
Have you been doing the audiobook version? The nickname for cat in Gaelic is "cheetie".
I have only been doing audiobooks, so the times I have seen some of the names/words written out, I'm confused. Laoghaire or however you spell it, for example...I was like, who the fuck is Log-Hair??? Oh...Lira (which is how it was spelled in my mind)

The Brits pronounce it "left-tenant" instead of "loo-tenant." Spelled the same.

I'd be a terrible time traveler, because I would want to keep going back and forth to check on things...Is the ridge still there? What does it look like now? BRB, heading through the stones, anything else I should look up?

Bring back some modern meds and things......Unfortunately frequent travel is impractical due to the need for expensive gemstones for each trip.

Left-tenant is British pronunciation of Lieutenant so yes same thing and spelled the same.
I started rereading Dragonfly because of season 2 and I can't stop so I finished Voyager again this weekend and onto DOA. I like Fiery Cross and I like the Ridge stuff. It's so homey. I want to go to there.
Hey claire, I'll bring you an arm load of penicillin with me if I can bang your husband. Deal?

Ohhh keep going! a Breath of Snow and Ashes is SO good, and FINALLY some of my questions were answered. I had to start keeping a list!
I've taken a little break waiting for Echo in the Bone from the library, and I am reading a Lord John book in the meantime. It is not what I'd hoped, but maybe it's just because it's one of the novella compilations? Hand of Devils. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LJ in the main books.

I have worried a lot more than I should have about their taxes and whatnot they all just left off in the modern time.

I thought that one was meh. I would recommend #2 (Brotherhood of the Blade) and #4 (Scottish Prisoner), though.
In fact, I recommend you read BotB before Echo in the Bone, because a character makes a reappearance and I was all kinda confused why everyone was acting like he was a big deal.

I've thought about stuff like that too. I mean, fortunately the taxes are kinda a non issue, because if you don't earn income, you don't have to file.
But some of the other stuff.....especially for the most recent trip and all (trying not to spoil). At some point, the government is going to be all like "Where have you been?"

Ill even take Roger! I'm more scare of Bree than Claire though...
Oh sure, I'll take Roger but I don't have anything to trade with Bree. Maybe some rolled aluminum? Chocolate? Peanut butter or maybe arse paper?
What would you guys take through the stones? Everything I want to bring needs electricity or I could probably live without.
ETA aside from penicillin
If you think about it, electricity is never ever going to happen. (Grid, lightbulbs that are short lived, etc).
But the thing with pipes for water? Yeah. Running water is the most important factor in civilization - way more important than electricity. Running water (and sewage pipes) are responsible for the decline of a lot of serious communicable diseases.
Basically, any kind of implementation that is newer than the 1780s. Farming, household, etc. Which is probably just about anything you can think of. I mean, steel plows weren't invented until the 1830s!! They were wood before that!
