I'm reading The Glittering Court still. I haven't had much time to read this week but I'm really enjoying it so far! I'm about 40% in.
I always take the dust covers off when reading a book. I put them someplace safe and then put it back on when I'm done with the book. I read in bed so if I didn't the dustcovers would get ruined. I do this for DD's books as well. I have a whole big Rubbermaid container filled with dustcovers from her books. When she outgrows the books the dustcovers will go back on and I will store them for her.
I'm in between fiction books right now and having trouble finding anything I want to read. I'm still reading The Genius of Birds (nonfiction); the section I'm in now is a little slow for me. No particular goals this year -- I set a GR challenge but it's just to keep me motivated and not really to stretch anything.
QOTW: I take the dust jackets off. They slide around too much and then get tiny bends and tears that annoy me. My DD started taking dust jackets off her books almost before she could talk -- must be in our genes.
I'm about 1/3 of the way through A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and enjoying it very much. It is one of my "challenge reads" for the year - I set a low challenge, to read 6 books outside my normal books, aiming for "classic" or at least "popular." This is book 4, following American Gods, Siddhartha, and Interpreter of Maladies. Not sure what I'll read for books 5 and 6 (and maybe beyond.
QOTW: Most of the time, I leave them on. I'm notoriously careful with my books - my family teases me because you wouldn't know that I'd read the paperbacks because the spines look perfect even when I'm done.

Oops, I forgot All the Light you Cannot See, so I guess I'm on book 5 of the challenge.
Listening to Every Day I Fight by Stuart Scott (the ESPN reporter)
Reading When We Collided by Emery Lord
#s 45 & 46. My goal is 100.
QOTW: I read either on my Kindle or library books so no dust cover to take off. I always take them off of my daughter's books. They are just obnoxious.

I'm listening to The Residence on audio at work. It's stories from the service staff of the white house from the last half century or so. It's really interesting.
I'm also re-listening to Order of the Phoenix in the car.
I have a reread of Pride and Prejudice going on and also the Raven King on my nook.
I am two books ahead of my goal of 52 for the year.
Still reading Ilium, slowly because it's really dense. Skimming to read faster feels like cheating, so I keep slogging through it. I tried describing the three intertwined stories to H. He said it sounded like any one would have been enough for a book. Three boring books. I'm not feeling close to any of the characters or stories; there's just no immediacy.
Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed. - G. K. Chesterton
I'm reading In the Time of the Butterflies. It's for one of my book clubs, so I'm hoping it's good! I have a goal of 100 books for The year. Goodreads is down now, but I think I'm at around 40, which is above target.
I never keep the dust jackets on...I throw them away a lot - sacrilege, I know! I just think books look nicer on the shelves without them.
I'm (still) reading Taming of the Queen by Philippa Gregory, it's alright but I just haven't been in the mood for it.
I just finished Fan Girl by Rainbow Rowell on audio and I adored it!
I've also been listening to The History of the Ancient World by Susan Wise Bauer, it's fairly interesting and I feel like I've actually learned a few things.
QOTW: It depends, I mostly try to keep them on while reading because if I take them off, I'm afraid they will get lost.

I read that a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it too!
I'm reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn too Wallflower (61% done)! I actually had to pause my reading of The Raven King (42% done) because my library checkout of ATGIB is about to expire. And honestly? I am liking ATGIB better than TRK. Granted, they are completely different kinds of books, so it's hard to compare. I'm also listening to Staked by Kevin Hearne (62% done) whenever I am doing chores/driving etc.
I'm 17 books ahead of schedule (74 out of 175).
QOTW: I almost never have hardcover books, but when I do I take the dust jacket off while I am reading it
I read Bird Box in one day- I liked it! I started The Royal We this week because it was on my kindle and I needed something lighter. So far, it's keeping my attention.
QOTW: I always remove them while I'm reading, I find them annoying to keep in place.

QOTW - I never take the jackets off books.
The Residence was so fascinating! I have her other book on hold - about the first ladies.

I'm still reading Roots by Alex Haley. I'm "enjoying" it in that it's really well written, has compelling characters, and I'm glad I'm reading it. But, as you might expect with a story about slavery, it's also difficult to read at times.
Also still listening to The Passage by Justin Cronin. I think this might be my longest audiobook so it feels a bit like a chore to try to make it through, though the story is good. It actually reminds me a lot of Stephen King, especially The Stand.
After these two I definitely need something lighthearted and less intense!
I hear so much about Bird Box. I'm going to have to give it a try.
I have heard a bunch of people loved the book and hated the ending.
It definitely isn't the best book I've ever read but I enjoyed it and was able to start and finish it in one day. The ending was just ok. Could have been better but I didn't totally hate it.

brewco - I thought the very same thing when I read The Passage. I really want to read the 2nd and 3rd books, but it's such a chore because they are so long! Great book, but geez it's an undertaking.

I just finished up (listening to) The Preacher by Camilla Lackberg. It's #2 in a series, but I'm taking a break from it. Not sure what's next on my audio book list.
I'm still reading Death Cure by James Dashner because I just haven't been able to find time to read this week. Next on my list to read is The Light Between Oceans by ML Stedman for bookclub at the end of May.
My challenge this year is 42 books (I think) and I'm on target barely. I was ahead, but have been slipping behind this last month or so.
If I'm reading a hard cover book, the jacket always comes off. It annoys me the entire time I'm reading!

I am reading Red Rising by Pierce Brown and liking it so far. My challenge this year is 100 books and I am about 4 books behind. Been in a bit of a slump lately. I'm not concerned though and have been trying not to focus on having a goal and just enjoying the books that I do read.
QOTW: I always take the jacket off and put it someplace "safe", so it doesn't get messed up. I put it back on when I am done with the book.
I'm reading Morning Star by Pierce Brown. I like it, but I wish I had re-read the first two since I am having a hard time remembering who people are (I should have at least re-read the second one.)
