I still think the Republicans will try to do something to keep Donald from being the nominee. I don't know what, but the establishment Republicans hate him, right?
I'm half hoping Cruz dropped out because he knows of such a plan. I mean, he hasn't released his delegates and there aren't that many states left. Right? Right? Please someone tell me this is not happening...

Nope they have no political cover for blocking his nomination now*. If it was contested then they could've intervened but now he will have the votes to win the the nom and they aren't going to implode the party over this. They will ride it out and cross their fingers.
*if something big enough comes out about him that they can use to make him ineligible they may.
I keep reassuring myself that you can't win without women and minorities. Trump can win all of the white male vote and still not have enough to even come close.
Me too. But I never thought he'd get this far in a million years. I'm not reassured at all by all the polls saying he'll lose big in November.
Two senior advisors to the McCain campaign said some interesting things today.
Steve Schmidt - McCain's campaign manager - said that Republicans need to ask whether they love their country more than their party.
And Mark Salter - a senior advisor - tweeted: the GOP is going to nominate for President a guy who reads the National Enquirer and thinks it's on the level. I'm with her.

Me either because they were saying the same thing last year when this madness started. Hell even I laughed it off as absurd which I deeply regret.
Also, Ted Cruz's college roommate is still winning the Internet: "Hey guys. How's your day going? Mine's good so far. Got some writing done, Ted Cruz lost Indiana, seeing a friend for dinner... the usual."
"Ted Cruz kept saying God wanted him to be President, and this is what happened. So either there is no God, or he reeeeally doesn't like Ted."
"To all the many well-wishers: it was truly my pleasure, and as long as Ted Cruz is in office... ...I will be watching."
I worry that Cruz made a nefarious deal in exchange for dropping out. Being vp now doesn't seem realistic, but H suggested that maybe Trump promised a Cruz nomination to the supreme court or something similar.
Wait, what? No, Trump didn't make any deal. There is no need. It doesn't matter if Cruz drops out of not it will not change his outcome. Cruz can stay in if he wants but mathematically is out.
Trump isn't give Cruz shit unless it is a middle finger and a wave good-bye.
Thank god my passport is up to date so I can flee to Canada.
Do you actually plan to go to Canada? Like, really truly? If not, why is this such a thing to say? I have seen tons of people saying this on FB and I don't get it.
i know people say this every election and I also roll my eyes because we all know they aren't going to. I will seriously consider leaving the country if Trump wins though. I'm not sure how much it will matter though, having trump as president will make the whole world a worse place to live
I strongly suspect we will see an independent bid for presidency from a Republican in the next week or so.
I truly hope you're wrong. Hillary can beat Trump. I have my doubts about that though if another Republican enters the race. All those moderate Republicans could shift their vote from her to the Independent candidate.

Beyond his platform, just in general, I cannot imagine why you would want someone in office with absolutely no experience in government. None. He has nothing to recommend him to the job, he cannot have a debate without resorting to name calling and taking personal shots... he is just an imbecile.
And, from what I have read, the majority of the republicans on the hill hate him. How did he get this far??
The only thing that truly worries me is that a third party candidate runs, nobody gets an electoral college majority, and the House selects Paul Ryan as president.
I'm anxious to see what all of my previously Trump-hating Republican friends are going to do now. I'm sure a few will vote for Hillary, but I'm scared about the rest!
If it turns into, "Wellllll...he's really not THAT awful..." I'm going to scream. I try to keep politics out of friendships, as my friends have very different views sometimes. I respect that, and am fine with it. But if your vote is going to someone you greatly dislike JUST because there's a (R) behind his name, then there's a big problem.
I just font undersand how this is happening. Who are these people??? I know literally NO ONE who is a proud Trump supporter. And if you can't be proud of who you want as a candidate, then perhaps you should rethink your vote. Because he will soon represent you & your entire country.

They hate Cruz more.
As for how he got all the votes, America is racist as fuck. HTH!
I am baking cookies and then I think I'll go sob in the corner for a bit.

I hope so, too.
If not, I think we will see more of what toepick posted - prominent, moderate Republicans throwing their support towards Hillary, which is the better alternative.
Can I ask a really stupid question? I'm too embarrassed to ask on CE&P. When will Obama throw out an endorsement? What is the protocol for that? Assuming it will be HRC, will he wait until it's official bc it's in bad taste to show up a fellow D? But BS is not really a D, so why wait?

Not until after the convention or there is one Dem candidate left. A sitting president never endorses until the party decision is made or there is only one Candidate left.
Ooh! The first of my vocal R friends has chimed in on FB.
It's been a Clinton conspiracy all along. (Apparently) The Trumps and Clintons have been friends for a long time, and this was Hillary's way to win the election...but she wasn't planning on Bernie.
She doesn't say who she'll vote for, though. I'm guessing she's holding out for a third party.
I will admit that I've thought frequently that Trump had no actual desire to be President. He was just looking for something new to do...and chose an outrageous platform to screw everything up. I often wonder if he goes to bed at night laughing at all of the idiots in America right now.

I have a co-worker who theorizes that Trump doesn't really want the presidency and is doing it for all the press he gets--for free! He doesn't even have to pay for it.
"Why would you ruin perfectly good peanuts by adding candy corn? That's like saying hey, I have these awesome nachos, guess I better add some dryer lint." - Nonny

I wouldn't put it past him.
What if he keeps going until Kasich drops out and then he turns around and says, "Joke's on YOU, America! I'm OUT. Racist idiots! Now you have essentially no choice but to have a Dem in office!" Is that even a possibility?
I just can't see him as an actual real person. He screams fictional character to me.
