I make my kids go in for their lessons if it is above 65. For me, above 75 is good, but I'd go in at lower temps if I had to (meaning, it was the only entertainment available for the day, lol)
My threshold for swimming in lakes is like 18C (like 65f?) so yeah, this question makes no sense to me lol.
I thought it got super cold in CO. What is it like in summer? Like AZ hot? This changes everything.
Not Arizona hot, but it's was mid-90s all last week. We had a couple days where it cooled down quite a bit (like low-70s) because of rain, but mostly it's pretty warm. It will get into the low 100s in July and August. We have pretty serious temperature swings. This past winter was fairly mild, but the one before we had temps in the -20s a few times.
I wouldn't. I don't go swimming unless it's at least 100 out. But if your usual high temps are the 90s I could see how 88 would be warm for you. But it's going to be almost 110 here all next week. So 88 would be a lot cooler than our usual summer temps.
We went because L kept begging and I got bored. It was nice out, but as I thought, she was shivering and whining about being cold. She's a delicate flower! Lol
I'm in CO too and while I think 80+ is plenty hot enough to swim....with the low humidity, it does seem cool when you get out of the pool (the water evaporates off you fast, wind/breeze even faster). And even more cool in the shade. My 3yr & 7yr old almost always shiver after getting out of the pool if it's outdoors pretty much no matter the outside temperature. So while 88 degrees is 88 degrees...it does feel totally different in VA (where DH is from) or IL (where I am from) than here. 88 is pretty damn miserable there but here, especially in the shade it's pleasant. Same goes for cold, the "dry" cold is easier to tolerate than back home where it's humid & cold. I used to swim in 68+ in IL as a kid and my girls do swim team at 6:30 when the air is chilly & it's in the 70s still but I do see why it seems cooler here than where most people live.

Last night H and I went out for an early dinner. As we left, I remarked how the weather had really cooled down. When we got in the car it was 80. Last weekend it was around 112.
Not for me it isn't. It would have to be deathly hot for me to consider getting in a pool. A real life or death situation. Besides, anything below 90 feels balmy and breezy to me. I have more thoughts on this, but I'll probably be flamed, and who the hell has time for that?
