I voted for #1, because the question which would you pick (as in me me me)... I feel like I could make do with 41% less if I really enjoyed my job. I plan on making this move in the next year. Right now I make good money but HATE my job. My 41% and yours is likely hugely different though. As I read the posts, I feel like you are leaning towards #2. If you get job offers to both, you could take a stab in the dark and negotiate the hell out of #1 since you would have nothing to lose. At what percent of pay would this be a no-brainer?
So, here's my 2cents based on our conversations we've had.
I am going to do the maths.
Let's pretend that we're talking a salary of $200k as your initial starting point, to make it a nice round number.
Job 2 is $250k. Job 1 is $118k.
That's a swing of $132k.
For an extra 80 min a day. Based on 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year. That's 333.33 hours.
Or ~$396/hour. Is your time worth $396/hour?
It's taken you a little while to find this one, because you're specialized. That's my only concern, really. Because you're specialized, it may take you a little longer to find something so significant again, should you ever end up unemployed again. But you're facing an increase right now, even if it did take you longer to get to the job.
So say that being specialized takes you an extra 4 months to find a job than not specialized. That's $50k benefit for 4 months of unemployment when you did eventually find it (provided you accept, etc). Not being specialized you could potentially get that $200k right away. But... you're getting a bump on the resume.
So to me, the only question I'd be asking myself - was the stress of unemployment worth it to get an increase? If you feel you could not handle this again, then go with the lower one that will potentially allow you more opportunities, faster.
Job 2 is not the same field as my previous two jobs.

Job 2 sounds like it could also provide more opportunities. And those opportunities would pay more because more pay there and better title. Watching this discussion makes me sure 2 is the answer.
#2 mostly for the money. If you're used to a long commute in LA, then 45 min-hour isn't bad. Plus, I don't know how I'd personally feel working for a younger boss.
I would choose the job that first you'd be happiest at and if that were equal, the job that you have the most potential for longevity at. As you know, the longer we go in our careers as lawyers, esp as specialized as in house counsel and without a book of business, the harder it is to find another job if you're ever faced with u/e again. So I'm leaning towards #1.
When I read the OP only, I chose job 1. I changed my answer after reading all of your replies. Not just because of the money. Sure, the commute is going to suck, but the advancement and making you more marketable are important. Plus pokestops. Lol
I'm with papie . Personally, I'd choose #1, but I think #2 is a better option for you.
Yeah, this where I'm at too. I'm used to a 15 min commute, 20 with traffic. But this isn't about me. YOU! I'm so happy you have two options, but I think you'll like 2 better. And you can always look for something else while employed, if you wanted more money or became unhappy.
Oh, and farmvillelover pointed out to me that I left out an important detail. Job 1 requires nationwide travel to company stores with issues and new stores.
This may sway all of you who keep asking about working from home. (No, that's not an option. Come on.)
