I'm holding out hope that Dems avoid a SCOTUS appointment by using the Republicans tactics against them. Better down a justice than anyone they would appoint.
I'm hoping someone will come in and explain why it would be basically impossible to overturn gay marriage. I'm terrified for women's rights.
McConnell is going to abolish the filibuster on day 1. Nuclear option. Dems won't be able to stop anything.
I foresee constitutional amendments making their way to the ballot. For abortion and SSM.
While congress can propose amendments they are voted on by the states. It needs a super-majority of states to approve it to be come an amendment. I don't think the republicans have 38 states what would support a constitutional change.
Also, we are going to start drilling and fracking in national parks. Apparently Sarah Palin wants to be Interior Secretary. Or the chairman of Lucas Oil. So go visit the Grand Canyon while you still can.
He will be a puppet to the republican party. I would actually relish him going a bit rogue. He is in SO FAR over his head now. He will do whatever they tell him to do.
I think he will go rogue. I think he gives zero fucks about the Rs. But who knows how.
I think he will do whatever Putin wants him to do. Being Putin's Manchurian Candidate is how he's paying off his Russian debts.
Besides that, who knows. Like eclaires said, he has no clear policies or positions. So we really have no idea what he will actually do.
This is the part that scares me the most. He has no plan and as eclaires said "it's not like he takes advice." I mean he is grossly unprepared, uninformed and has no interest in getting up to speed that I've noticed. He is so confident that he is right all the time, why listen to a real expert.
I do think ACA and PP are his first targets as a sop to his voters. They will all say how honest and awesome he is for making it happen.
I honestly don't know. I think he was saying a lot of stuff to fire up the base, but whether or not he does it? Who knows. Plenty of Rs burned bridges with him, and he's a spiteful little man. He's not going to forget.
Can Hillary get the hell out of dodge? Like pack up and move to another country ASAP?
I would probably be doing this if I were her. And to actually think about this is so disturbing - this is something that happens in dictatorships when there is an overthrow of power. Not here.

We have such a glut of oil and natural gas, so I can't see this will be a priority for anyone. Mostly because of cost, so that's the good news? High cost of exploration and production is also going to see offshore sitting it out for a long while I hope.
I think he will basically be a figurehead and delegate to others.
I'd be ok with this, except we still have to rely on his judgement to pick the people who will do the actual work.
ETA: I'm only talking about things like economy, foreign policy.
I have no hope that our civil liberties will continue. Which is what has me terrified.
Me too. It all depends on the people he surrounds himself with. And all the likely options scare me. Republicans have free reign and I don't think Trump is principled enough to stand with or against them.
I am oddly not worried at all about him taking action on Hillary.
What about our existing treaties with other countries? He's already talked about repealing so many of them. Between this and trade deals, what is to stop us from getting into a world war?
I'm about to go into full prepper mode. Pull money out of the bank, stock up on goods.
It doesn't fucking matter if your think Donald trump won't focus on abortion. Because the republican Congress will and he will sign it. Planned Parenthood is going to be defunded and women across this country will lose access to preventative health care.
Remember Mike Pence signed a law requiring women to have funera devices for miscarriages. Women are not safe. A right to an abortion (or birth control) is at stake and if you aren't worried, you are t paying attention.
I've already made an appt with my doctor to have my bc implant replaced because it last for 4yrs and they can't take that out once it's in.
I kind of feel like the best we can hope for is that Voldemort is his typically erratic, egotistical self and manages to get very little done. He'll get some things done but I'm hoping he misinterprets to be like the Queen of England, all photo ops and state dinners, and doesn't get around to doing much work.
what are the signs of the apocalypse and what are the odds that trump is the actual anti-christ?
Jesus said that the deception surrounding the Antichrist will be so clever that only the elect of God will recognize him and understand his true intent and purpose:
"And they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, seeing the beast, that it was a thing, and is not and yet now is" (Rev.17:8 Para.). See also Dan.12:9-10; Rev.1:1-8.
All others on earth will be deceived into thinking that this person is indeed a savior of humanity. Therefore, it is extremely important to be able to recognize some of the characteristics and powers that this person may exhibit as he imposes his will on the world.
Well this is encouraging! Doesn't sound like Trump at all lol Savior of humanity- I don't fucking think so!
I can't even say his fucking name. Abortion will become illegal at some point, or at least very difficult, right? Gay marriage repealed? Mexico is not going to pay for a wall. Will we? Will that actually happen?
ETA- and ACA will be repealed.
None of this will happen. Trump has actually flip flopped over the years on his stance on abortion. I never got the sense that he is strongly anti abortion, he just took the pro life stance to appeal to his base. He will push it off as low priority and probably never address it during his presidency. Same with gay marriage. The wall will never happen because it's a stupid idea and not remotely possible.
Trump will focus on trade, taxes and immigration because that's really all he cares about.
If there is a terrorist attack, expect him to retaliate with the fire of a thousand suns but I think the joint chiefs of staff will do a pretty good job of reigning him in, otherwise.
This is what I think as well. He won't (IMO) push anything that won't directly benefit his company or his pockets. So I think even immigration (at least the wall and "deportation agency") will never happen, because he needs immigrants to work at his shitty-ass properties.
I think they will try to push something to replace the ACA, which is awful, but I don't think he will touch any other human rights issues.
Honestly, he will be campaigning again in a little over two years, so I'm hoping he can't do too much damage in that time, and then we can put forth someone who can crush him.
Some are of you are missing the point - go look at what the House passed in the past four years. All that crazy shit - from defunding Planned parenthood to legalizing anti-gay discrimination to giving federal lands back to the states so they can lease them to mining and oil companies - it's all going to get signed by Donald.
His priorities will be what benefits him the most. There's (some, tiny) solace in that. He'll nominate whoever he's told to nominate to SCOTUS but I don't think the social issues will be top of mind. It doesn't mean I'm not scared - he will delegate it out if someone wants to work on it - but his personal interest is minimal.
In order of importance I think he'll tackle: - Repeal of regulations including ACA - Halting immigration - Tax cuts - Defaulting on trade agreements / treaties
And he'll continue to saber rattle about the wall and investigating everyone in the Obama administration.
I remain hopeful that he largely delegates military/Intel/foreign relations to someone with experience. I don't even care about ideology at this point. Just competence.

FWIW my brother had heard some of who he might be tapping militarily and thinks that will be okay. He thinks he will continue the policy of the last 18m which my brother has been on board with via Obama.

We're selling our house and buying a new one. I am seriously half considering buying a camper from some of the proceeds so my h, dd, and I have somewhere to live if we both lose our government jobs.
