If the House takes up the social issues like defunding PP and legalizing discrimination I don't think Trump would stop it. But there's still a small glimmer of optimism that the more level headed Rs would work to ensure those bills don't get priority, at least in the Senate.
My mother, who is a racist, ignorant Trump supporter, works for her local Medicaid office. Can anyone give me an indication that she is going to lose her job? An assurance of any kind?
I feel like there were deep cuts in all the fed areas unilaterally during the Bush administration. It would depend on her seniority, I imagine.
I'm scared for my life. Literally. Obamacare is the only reason I'm alive. Who's going to want to cover someone with brain cancer history? What about maximum lifetime limits? I've met the usual $1M. My brain surgery alone was $1.2M and that's not counting all the follow up scans and medications I'll need for the rest of my life. Is my life not worth it?

So many hugs. My friend who had gyn cancer has the same fears.
1. ACA Repeal 2. Increased federal funding to militarize the police 3. Greater penalties for citizens with respect to the police 4. Decreased funding for traditional public schools; increased charter funding 5. The SCOTUS is fucked 6. Dismantled trade agreements 7. Lower tax burden on the top earners 8. Harsher immigration policies 9. Dream Act Repeal
Don't check your stocks folks. Because we'll be mighty depressed.
I told DH that if we play our cards right, we might be able to afford a house in the post-apocalyptic landscape.
Then I started crying again.
DH and I discussed this this morning. With the economy crash and no mortgage regulations homes will be more attainable. And then we got depressed again.
DS's (gay, retired, Florida resident) godparents are meeting soon with their financial advisor to seriously discuss a move to Europe. They've been experiencing violence more regularly and are now also concerned about their retirement portfolio.
Well, here's a start for you. Looking at executive orders under Obama that he can rescind with the swipe of a pen on his first day in office. His "team" (aka handlers) are already looking into it. He's a puppet...that won't conform to the strings the Republicans want him on if it doesn't benefit him or he wants to throw a tantrum.

DACA will be repealed (or cancelled or whatever the fuck the right verb is for EOs) and all those children who were born in the US and told HRC about how afraid they were of their families being torn apart because their parents will be deported will have their parents deported. ACA will be repealed (before it is replaced and no real replacement will be forthcoming because bootstraps) and more families will go bankrupt from the cost of medical care or die from lack thereof. Students will continue spending the rest of their lives paying off the cost of college educations. But luckily Trump won't have to pay a single fucking tax dollar towards the cost of arming the soldiers he sends to carpet bomb the civilians within whose midst ISIS fighters hide. Shall I go on?
ETA: Oh, and I forgot, there will be a run on fucking coathangers as PP is defunded and desperate women return to the desperate days before Roe when women died of back ally or self-induced abortions.
I think the ACA will be first. He'll start day one.
Nope. That will take actual congressional action and time. He'll undo all the executive orders, literally on day one. He, and he alone, does that with the swipe of a pen.
I'm in benefits consulting and we have an internal town hall tomorrow to talk about implications for our clients (mainly ACA impact, I imagine, but they will touch on other stuff as well). I suspect it will be a good bit of "we're still trying to figure it out" since Trump has offered approximately zero specifics on what he will actually plan to do, but I'll update everyone if I learn anything. It's bound to be disastrous news for ACA in the long term, there are bills that Obama vetoed that already passed the House & Senate so I don't think it would take too long to revive those and push them through.
