Wait a minute. Trump is undermining the exact agencies that will report to him in 40 days?
Hold me. I'll be crying in the corner.
Of course. First, he doesn't think muxh of them to begin with. But the alternative is to go along with a narrative that (1) undermines the legitimacy of his power and (2) suggests that he may be wouldn't have won after all unless Russia helped....and that's an idea that he can't stand. See also the revisionist history in the Tweet about the breadth of his win.
But yeah this is still both horrifying and terrifying. Honestly when I think of the implications of having a president and his entourage who are so disassociated from the facts and reality - not just on this - and a Congress and a critical mass of the public who are equally disconnected or choose to not do anything to call them on their crap, the physical panic I feel is not like anything I have felt before.

What.The.Fuck.
And what's even freakier, that 2005 conspiracy book I just read by that nutjob, she said that the US wasn't going to be destroyed by the Middle East, but by Russia and we aren't even going to see it coming... Yikes.
And haven't we discussed many times how Trump will attack anyone who disagrees with him or reveals his many flaws? Yeah, well now he's going after his/our very own government, and I wonder how that will go down with all of his patriotic, flag-waving, 'Murica-loving supporters followers? Are these people so hypnotized by that goon that they are willing to turn their backs on their own country to support him, still?

Remember that letter Harry Reid sent to Comey right before the election claiming Comey was holding "explosive" information about Russia's involvement and Trump's ties to it?
I'm clinging to the hope that Trump will be impeached.
I really think we are fucked.
We are going to see the deterioration of human rights, climate protection, and long-term financial solvency - both individual and institutional.
I have been drinking, but I have zero confidence that we will see any sort of governmental consequence to this.
I agree.
I honestly feel this is a turning point that marks the end of American democracy, self-governance, and politics as we know it. I don't necessarily think there will be a huge change on the surface - we will probably still have 3 branches, the Constitution, etc. But in practical terms our government and political system will function much like those of many countries that America writ large has held up as worthy of scorn - corrupt, nonrepresentative, a concentration of power in a politician/party and that piwer taking steps to ensure they remain so, regardless of actual popular will (in other countries it might be straight up fraud or rigging; here it will be expanding procedural tools like voter suppression and gerrymandering to make it very difficult for the voters to effectuate their will), targeting of dissenting views, etc.
To avoid this, you'd need either Americans to basically stand up and deliver everything to the Dems - which they won't because babies and guns and terrorists immigrating and fear and gay marriage and etc. will always keep a critical mass red, or the GOP would have to check itself and it has shown no inclination, and has no incentive, to grow a brain/spine/conscience (as applicable).

Wow, i somehow missed that Harry Reid letter. Fuck.
That first meeting that Trump had with Obama, where Trump came out looking like he was shitting his pants...my first thought (admittedly tinfoil hat) was that what Obama really told him was that he knew Russia had made this happen.
So where do we go from here...the president wants a report before he leaves office and supposedly congress is willing to act to look into this. I just feel like there must be some way to postpone the electoral college vote and inauguration until this is resolved. How can anyone feel that we should just keep moving along when it is likely this election was tampered with and is invalid.
I mean I know this is unprecedented but there has to. R some way to stall this process until we know our president elect isn't a puppet of Russia.

This makes frustrates me about Obama...he could have delivered, leaked or whatever this information pre election.
But it further infuriates me about McConnell and Ryan. I mean...they are more willing for us to play into Russia's hands than endure 4 years of Hillary?? God god.

Hence why his campaign was all about banning Muslims and refugees. A distraction.

They won't care. They will blame the liberal media for blowing things out of proportion, biased against Trump, and that the dems are sore losers.

Are the Republicans so stupid that they don't realize what a dangerous game they are playing by looking the other way on this or do they just not care and think they can handle it? Do they want to live in a country that is headed by a puppet who is manipulated by our historic enemy? The story itself is disturbing but the lack of response by leading Republicans takes it to another level of scary.
Please god let this be the scandal that pushes the electoral college into going rogue.
I already replied on this thread but I wanted to say I just emailed the offices of senators graham and mccain to let them know I fully support their efforts for transparency on this and looking closely into this matter. I hope others will do the same. Congress should feel the importance of this matter with the American people.
I am not smart enough to even pretend I understand the intricacies of this besides holy shit.i cannot believe Trump's people just undermined the CIA. I think it was...unwise. For many reasons.
What little is left of my optimism is hoping there's quiet from Rs (and Ds) because they're sitting on something big to get him impeached and out of office. I know that means Pence but that's the R wet dream so I wouldn't expect less from them.
I also sadly think Trump would get re-elected more easily than Pence.
I think Obama really believed Clinton would win so didn't want to tarnish her win with appearance of partisanship, which would undermine her victory later.
I am looking forward to hearing what the intelligence community has on #45.

You know what else is insane? The same people who were screaming "lock her up" with regard to Hillary's private server situation think this is no big deal or have no public reaction. I know I am preaching to the choir here but this is beyond frustrating.

This is what I keep coming back to. Letting Russia have a say in our elections is better to them than a Democratic win. Unbelievable.
Can you even imagine if Hillary won due to Russian influence??!! They would be losing their shit (as they rightly should be). Instead they are just all whatever.
