"The CIA has concluded in a secret assessment that Russia intervened in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump win the presidency, rather than just to undermine confidence in the U.S. electoral system, according to officials briefed on the matter."
My first thought was holy shit. Then I read the article, and it's what we've known.
The question remains, did Trump seek this out? And if so, what are the repercussions?
Repercussions are dubious since the Rs apparently DGAF. But I don't think Trump is the mastermind, by any means. There is a Russian term that translates to "useful idiot" and that is what Trump is to Putin. Putin just wants to fuck up the US, and he's a good vehicle for that.
That said, I would not be shocked if Trump is caught up in some shady business deals in Russia and Putin used that as leverage.

I have been following Putin fairly closely for the last 15 years. I always knew he was evil but I never suspected that he would be in some way responsible for completely fucking up our federal government.

Umm. First he is insane and can't believe he is undermining the CIA. Second, his electoral college win isn't even close to the biggest in history...Obama won by more both times.

In fact his margin of victory in the electoral college ranks him 48 out of 56.
John McCain just said that the CIA isn't always right.
So now the Republican Party is totally ok with the Russians influencing the election because their guy won. And now they can privatize Medicare and slash Social Security and give huge tax cuts to the rich.
I'm clinging to the hope that Trump will be impeached.
I don't think there is a single republican in congress who will stand up to him. Maybe Lindsay Graham. They are too busy jacking off to tax cuts for the rich and making poor people's lives even more miserable.
"Obama dispatched Monaco, FBI Director James B. Comey and Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson to make the pitch for a “show of solidarity and bipartisan unity” against Russian interference in the election, according to a senior administration official."
And instead, Comey sent his shit letter about investigating Clinton.
Evan McMullin evan_McMullin Republican leaders knew Russia was undermining our democracy during the election and they chose to ignore it.
26m Evan McMullin evan_McMullin Their willingness to put party before country & power before principle has resulted in one of the worst compromises of US security ever.
