I have no idea what is considered short for a woman. I think I'm about average - between 5'3" and 5'4". That doesn't feel particularly short, but my kids are both taller than I am at ages 15 and 16.
Edit: just googled, and average height for women in the USA is 5'4".
I'm 5'3" and sometimes find airplane seats uncomfortable because I dangle. I love when airlines have footrest options.
Nobody thinks of the comfort of shorter people in these situations. All airlines always boast of extra legroom. I don't need that. I just don't want to dangle. LOL.

My 11 y/o granddaughter has been taller than me since the spring.

Um, no. I have never once in my life been considered short. I'm 6'0. I think i've been this height since middle school. So, while my legs never dangle, I don't fit into airplane seats or movie theater seats or much of anything else.

Then why are pants so goddamn long?!
This is why I get my jeans from JCPenney. I wear regular length (in the misses department, not petites and not talls), and the jeans still have stickers designating short, regular, and long length. When I was younger I wore petites, but they were too short. Now I wear misses short, and they are the perfect length. Sometimes I can swing a misses regular, but not usually.

I'm growing older but not up. My metabolic rate is pleasantly stuck, let the winds of time blow over my head. I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead.
