How are you doing on your goals for 2017? What are you actively doing to achieve the goals you set in December? Are you wanting to adjust/defer/cancel/add to any of those goals? Tell me about it and how this year is playing out for you, H&F-wise.
If my knee/leg starts getting better and I'm able to get back to running more consistently: run the marathon I wanted to run in September. Flatter course and less humidity I believe will be the key.
If not: meh, just keep doing what I'm doing. Lifting, yoga 5+ times a week, and run short distances as tolerated.
I've been hard charging for six years now and I think I might be in a place where I just want to coast for awhile.
Well, my knee and leg are doing much better. I took nearly 5 months where I didn't run at all. I was just lifting/doing some HIIT with #realmitch and I did yoga until I couldn't yoga anymore haha. For real, I was doing as much as 6 yoga classes per week. Unlimited membership, FTW! So I did "coast" for the first 1/4 of the year or so. But you guys get it, I can't just coast for very long.
With that being said, my goal of "run the marathon I wanted to run in September" is definitely still my A goal for 2017. I'm signed up for the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon which is indeed flatter and in November, so hopefully a LOT less humidity than September. I picked a higher mileage plan than last time, so I hope that I am more prepared. I am also going to do my damndest to keep up with lifting and yoga during this cycle. Last year, I definitely fell out of habit and my lifting and yoga became more sporadic. This means a lot of workouts every week, but I think I can do this!
Mentally, I think I'm in a better place, simply because I've done this before and I generally know what to expect. I am not *as* anxious. As little anxious as a neurotic, type-A, crazy person can be
Re-reading that post it feels like yesterday. How is this year half over???
New distances - a half marathon this one keeps getting derailed. Contemplating Baltimore in October now. , half century, a sprint WITH AN ACTUAL FOR REAL OWS where I can't touch the bottom, A ragnar All done! and an oly tri.Signed up - Sept 30 In that order since I've signed up for almost all of them already. Feel happy and strong through each - YUP! So far so good! New PR - sub 25 5k. Shave some more time off my bridge 10k time, but that's not till late fall. I haven't even touched this. I've been contemplating the balance between distance and speed lately - trying to decide what I want to do. My sister is planning on some longer distances and I'd love to run them with her, but at the same time, speed goals and the training that goes with them fit into my life a lot better these days. I need to pick a direction. More Nebulous - commit to weight training in form on a consistent basis. At least one day a week. Still working on details of this one. This one is kinda in betweeny. PT has basically been gentle weight training for core/glutes/hips, which I'll be keeping up basically indefinitely. I need to roll that into something a hair more structured instead of just being all willy nilly with it.
* Get more comfortable on my bike and race a duathlon. I didn't do this in time for the duathlon, but I am slowly getting more comfortable. SLOWLY.
* Survive an Olympic distance tri with DH, and possibly beat him (it all comes down to the bike!) I still plan to survive. I will not beat DH on anything but the run.
* work on getting my speed back, especially in the shorter distances. I'm planning on the Summer of 5k's! I am faster than last fall, but I don't know if I'm going to get back to my fastest times. I have a few 5k's planned still, 1-2 with DD1. I love running with her.
* I'm holding off on my Fall goals, maybe a marathon, maybe a 50 miler, or maybe a short distance PR. I'll decide this summer which goal seems the most fun. I decided on 2 marathons, maybe I'll race one but I suspect it will be hot in September and the other is a trail race.
I think this year will end up being more about having fun than running fast. I'm excited to do a couple events with DH and DD1, and see DS crush his first triathlon.
I ran a really solid birthday marathon, followed it up with a massive PR in a 50K 3 weeks later, and on this weeks short runs am dealing with some pretty bad IT band stuff in my knee
SO. I went to ART, am going again next Friday, and am still crossing all my fingers and toes that my 50 miler will happen (in less than two months. yikes.)
I've done a fairly decent job, not the greatest about using my journal regularly. And although I spent much of Jan-April getting my knee healthy vs. having fun, I'm still on track for my A race in October.

2017 is a big year for me:
1) Re-establish and commit to the new normal H&F wise- given schedule changes at home recently and busy season at work coming up.
2) Use my beautiful new Believe journal
3) Running-wise, have fun Jan-April and keep the eye on the prize- bucket list race in October (50 miler)
4) Stay healthy/happy/sane and injury free (right knee I'm looking at you......)
-CrossFit competitions - I didn't do any this year since I was focused on running
Two down, one to do and maybe more after that. I even podiumed on one.
-Continue with the volume of CrossFit I do and get better at it overall.
I may have increased or kept my volume but a few months into the year I decide to trade out two days of CF for two day of weightlifting.
-Continue running but shorter distances. I'm completely OK with running 4-6 miles and am looking forward to not having all those double digit runs looming over my head.
I stopped that for a bit but am on week three of running 5x/week.
-Lose enough to get into a position where I feel like I can mass/bulk. Which really means lose all this holiday fluff plus a little more.
Done
-Maybe PR my 5k. I dropped 4 minutes or more this year and maybe I can drop another 1 or 2. In almost impossible territory maybe get sub 20? Like what is that pace? I don't even want to know.

2017 miles between running, biking and swimming I'm at 525 total miles for the year which leaves 1492 miles to the goal. I have some big biking and running months coming up so I think I can make it. My spring was lite compared to previous years.
Continue to incorporate strength training and stretching my routine regardless of what I am training for. I was doing well with this until we started the kitchen/bathroom project. I haven't lifted in the last month but will get back on track at the end of the this month.
Stay healthy. So far so good....
Half/marathon PR's Half PR in May ! and will go for the marathon PR in October.
Sprint or Oly tri in spring. A tri this year got nixed, was not able to fit it in the schedule. I'm sad about it but something had to give.
Maybe a century? Still a maybe for later this summer.
1. Continue to get faster for time trials at the velodrome. I've taken some time off but not as much as I'd hoped. 2. A medal at the Masters National Track Championships or a time trial PR. Probably not going, so no. 3. Have fun and continue to be healthy! Meh.
I think my goals were to stay active during pregnancy and then pick up fitness again post partum. I've been able to keep walking throughout pregnancy, but I had to stop running around 30 weeks. I am planning on doing a couple of 5ks in October, and see how things go from there.
ETA: hit post too soon. One of the 5ks is a Halloween race. DS wants to dress up as Darth Vader, so we may be making the double stroller into a tie fighter/death star. I am way excited for this.
My goal was to have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby and add more variety to my schedule, such as joining a gym.
I don't know if it is the healthiest pregnancy but I am nearly 34 weeks and still doing some form of exercise at least 4 days a week. Baby is measuring healthy so fingers crossed it stays that way!
I joined the gym and have added swimming and TRX and minimal weight lifting into my schedule.
Train for my April half marathon enough that it isn't miserable. -- big fat check with a 1:59!
Stroller 5K PR -- I'm thinking I'll actually do the 10K at the main summer race I'm planning, but I did run a 25:XX with the stroller last month during speed work. So, check.
I'm actually doing much better running & training than I thought I would based on my January thoughts. Usually these check in mid-year deals make me feel like I'm behind, but apparently I set the bar low this year so I could crush over it?

"I've got that whole Boulder 70.3 thing staring at me. Hopefully I find a way to make that happen.
With my physical status questionable, I try to focus on other things. Like, not taking random weeks off from working out, increasing weight when I'm lifting, and swimming faster and longer.
One definite goal is learning to ride with clipless pedals."
Well, I'm in the middle training for that 70.3. I'm currently in my doc's office for a foot verdict.
I'm not lifting as much as I'd like, but i was. I'm definitely swimming faster and longer.
