I registered for the NYC ticket release! I don't actually know when the shows in NYC are happening, I should probably look into that. I really hope I'm able to purchase tickets.
So, in the event that I don't get a code/tickets, any other ideas for Christmas gift for a HP lover? My D asked for a trip to Universal, which may happen if the timing works out with her college schedule, but I need good HP based gifts as alternates.

I don’t know if she’d care about this, but my mom has been buying me the illustrated hardcover books as they come out (they just released book 3). They are so well done and I am really looking forward to reading them with my kids. They’re definitely keepsakes for me.
I am so excited! I bought went to the Show in London and was so blown away by the production. I still don't love the actual plot, but the magic was amazing.
I pre-registered as well, Guess I'll just pick a date and make it work like I did with London!
Not a terrible idea. She would probably like those to keep and not read. She has TWO box sets of the books already though (me and her boyfriend both got them for her without knowing the other one did!).
I take a Broadway trip every year, and I've been anxiously awaiting this one. I think the chances of getting a code are slim to none. While I appreciate any efforts to keep tix away from scalpers I'd personally rather take my chance with the "old" system and not this verified fan garbage. At least with the old way I had a fighting chance. Now if you don't get a code you're basically SOL. Given that this is 2 shows the number of tickets available has essentially been cut in half, yet millions will be hoping for a shot at them.

Previews start March 16. The show officially opens April 22 and tix will be on sale through Nov 18

Pottery Barn has released a line of Harry Potter related items - there are a lot of really cute things in there that I would love to get for myself! Maybe there would be a few things that she would like?

Eh, I dunno. It was a different scenario for London, but I got in to buy tickets three separate times for Cursed Child. And I’ve never been successful at getting into the Hamilton line for anything other than resale.
I really appreciated the lack of scalping for this. When I went in to pick up my tickets last week, a guy just walked in and bought £70 tickets for that weeks performance right there from the box office. Because of the buy back program, there is little or no upsell opportunities for this play.

Agreed. I had no issue buying my first set of tickets, and I bought in the first round when it was first announced. It took a little patience, but I was able to get the dates I wanted without too much heartache.
And I was able to get amazing seats at face value and not have to fight with scalpers and brokers to do it.

I hope you're both right but given the number of tix available and the incredible hype for this I think it's a shot in the dark. I was able to get Hamilton tix when it was first announced too before the hype of that one and now look how things are. All we can do is wait to see if we get an email on the 16th and hope for the best!

It was probably the best show I've ever seen. It made you feel the magic! I also loved the ticket process- had to wait up until the early hours, but that's because it was in England.

Not sure if this is something of interest but our local symphony is showing the HP movies and performing the score. We just saw HP and the Chamber of Secrets last Saturday. It was so cool. They are doing the Prisoner of Azkaban in February.

I'll have to see if ours is doing the same. She would love it. And Prisoner of Azkaban is her favorite one!
Did anyone here who registered get an email today confirming that they are getting a code? DH and I both got standby and none of our friends got in either. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.

I got a code! I can buy tickets Wednesday.
Lucky you! I've scrapped my plans to go to NYC next year now since I won't be able to get in to see this. I refuse to buy from scalpers.
I'm on standby, as are my sister and my 3 other friends who tried. I did get to see it in London, so I shouldn't complain, but I really want to take DS1 now.
