All will be forgotten/forgiven when Justice League comes out,
I really want to believe that the tide is finally turning against these assholes but you're probably right. However, how is he going to get through a press tour with all of this swirling around? I don't think he can just ignore it.
I really don't know how anyone, no matter how famous wouldn't have heard the rumors. I've been hearing them since around '99 when I was a college student in Md so surely people in the industry knew. I admit I am a film/tv trivia type person but I certainly have never been privy to inside knowledge of any kind. It's been an open secret for decades.
His brother also had some allegations made against him by his wife a while back after their separation. I'm sure he knew what was going on with Harvey--he basically just does Dimension films but they are/were business partners.
Theres a TMZ "article" that Harvey is turning on his brother and I hope it's true and they all go down in flames.

So, I think so much of this goes back to how we think of sexual harassment, power imbalances, consent etc.
If it was an "open secret" that Weinstein was kind of a "pervert," did that mean that people just thought young actresses would sleep with him to get a part, like Clooney said? (which is pretty much quid pro quo sexual harassment...."sleep with me and I'll do X for you at the workplace") And if that's what people thought, was that just considered the norm for Hollywood? Or did people sort of say "eh that's Harvey" because he was powerful, or because they figured the actresses had consented so it wasn't harassment? (but with a power imbalance like that, I think the issue of consent is tainted.) Did people hear stories like Paltrow's and think, "well she said no and it was fine" without realizing that even if you say no, the actual event can still be extremely traumatizing, even if you aren't "forced" to do anything?
And then reading the New Yorker article and how so many of the victims knew what would happen to them if they went public - not just in terms of being smeared by Weinstein, but their actual past, the fact that the one had a relationship with him, etc. Those women all knew what would happen if they went public. I feel like that says more about our society than it does about Weinstein, in a way.
I hope that the positive that comes out of this is that it changes how we view sexual harassment at the workplace.
I'm not disagreeing with anything you said, I'm just sort of rambling in my thoughts here.

I get what you are saying. I do remember the Rose McGowan thing at the time it was pretty clear it was assault and it was him. I'm sure everyone was scared of what would happen to them if anything got out. They were the studio for decades for pretty much anyone starting out who wanted to be a serious actor. And (despite what she is implying/saying now) look what happened to Gretchen Mol. They pushed and pushed her as the new It Girl and then she completely floundered and barely worked for ages. I mean maybe it is just a coincidence but I sort of doubt it. At the very least I think he encouraged people not to work with her. His "relationship" with Mol was pretty well known back then.

Really interesting article on Rose McGowan. Here are some of the more interesting anecdotes. I'd never heard that story about Adam Sandler before.
McGowan has recast herself as a “feminist whistleblowing badass” in the film industry for the past few years – and faced the consequences. In the summer of 2015 she shared a casting note for a film made by a “male star rhymes with Madam Panhandler” that requested that auditionees “show off cleavage (push up bras encouraged)”. It went viral, and by the following morning, McGowan had been dropped by her agent, something she promptly tweeted about: “I just got fired by my wussy acting agent because I spoke up about the b------ in Hollywood. Hahaha.”
As she later explained, McGowan wasn’t even that offended by the sexism of Adam Sandler’s note – the casting was for his big-budget Netflix film The Do Over – but what it said about the industry. “It was just so dumb. I was offended by the stupidity more than anything,” she told E!. “I was offended by the fact that went through so many people's hands and nobody red flagged it. This is normal to so many people. It was probably even a girl that had to type it up. It's institutionally OK.”
When Renee Zellweger’s face was the target of a preposterous column by Variety’s new critic Owen Gleiberman a year later, McGowan was the one who published an eviscerating response in rival title The Hollywood Reporter. “You are an active endorser of what is tantamount to harassment and abuse of actresses and women,” McGowan wrote. “I speak as someone who was abused by Hollywood and by people like you in the media, but I’m a different breed, one they didn't count on.”
She went on to explain that she was “forced by a studio to go on Howard Stern, where he asked me to show him my labia while my grinning male and female publicists stood did nothing to protect me.” The level of abuse McGowan had suffered was so high, she said, she “actually forgot what [she] looked like”.

Rose McGowan has been banned from Twitter. Well, suspended, but the suspension only begins once she deletes her offensive tweets, which will never happen. 1) What she said wasn't offensive and 2) she's not capitulating, she's waited too long for this.

Fuck Ben Affleck. What a sleaze. What possible excuse can he offer up for this? He obviously feels entitled to grope women whenever he feels like it. It's a pattern of behavior, like HW.
Makeup artist Annamarie Tendler, wife of comedian John Mulaney, has tweeted that she was also groped by Affleck at a Golden Globes party in 2014.
“I would also love to get an apology from Ben Affleck who grabbed my ass at a Golden Globes party in 2014,” she wrote. “He walked by me, cupped my butt and pressed his finger into my crack.”
Writer Jen Statsky said that she was also at the party and had “multiple friends [who] had this same exact experience.”

The trump thing is getting to me about all this. I think Harvey is a total sleaze/predator/etc and I'm glad he was fired and he should be investigated.
But how many women accused trump of sexual harassment? HE BRAGGED ABOUT IT ON TAPE.
And that was "just how men are" and "well what do you expect, he's rich and powerful, he can have his pick" or whatever else.
The hypocrisy from the right is mind blowing and enraging.

I have witnessed Ben Affleck in action, and it was disturbing. His sloppy ass was harassing multiple women at a small hotel bar I used to hang out at in Cambridge to come up to his room. He was gross and aggressive and luckily no one that I saw took him up on it. Jennifer Garner was pregnant at the time.

Here's an interesting story from the French actress Lea Seydoux. He harassed her too with the same story about luring her up to a hotel room by herself and then making a move on her. She fought him off. The bolded is why I don't believe any of the people who are trying to say they had no idea at all what Weinstein was up to.
Since that night in his hotel room, I’ve seen him on many other occasions. We are in the same industry, so its impossible to avoid him. I’ve seen how he operates: the way he looks for an opening. The way he tests women to see what he can get away with. He also doesn’t take no for an answer. I once went with him to a restaurant and when he couldn’t get a table he got angry and said: “Do you know who I am? I am Harvey Weinstein.” That’s the kind of man he is. I’ve been at dinners with him where he’s bragged openly about Hollywood actresses he has had sex with. He’s also said misogynistic things to me over the years. “You’d be better if you lost weight,” he said. That comment shocked me. One night, I saw him in London for the Baftas. He was hitting on a young woman. Another time, at the Met Life ball, I saw him trying to convince a young woman to sleep with him. Everyone could see what he was doing. That’s the most disgusting thing. Everyone knew what Harvey was up to and no one did anything. It’s unbelievable that he’s been able to act like this for decades and still keep his career. That’s only possible because he has a huge amount of power.

Poor Jennifer. I wonder what she thinks about all of this.

And the sheer gall to try to turn this on Hillary and Obama. Like they should have known and done something. WTF. If you're so concerned about the plight of women in our misogynistic society, how about you not vote for an admitted harasser?
I am one of those people who was not aware of all this HW stuff. I didn't even know who he was. The only white producers I can think of are Jerry Bruckheimer and Dick Wolf. But is seems clear that this wasn't actually a secret and all those who knew and did nothing for the sake of their careers should be ashamed.
