I too loathe what the Food Network has become. I'll give a plug for the Create channel from PBS. They have a decent number of real cooking shows with new talent, specialized cuisines, and a bunch of the classics too.
My H has moved on from Good Eats to America's Test Kitchen on PBS.

I was wondering how it would be without Christopher Kimball but it seems to be just fine. I love Bridget and Julia. (I interned at ATK so I'm a bit biased. Chris was really odd and Bridget and Julia are really funny.)

I think this is why I love the Great British Baking Show -- they are actually baking and I get to see them work through problems and stuff. And the kids baking championship, as someone mentioned earlier, because they are so earnest and they help each other.
Have you searched for any of the new episodes w/o Mary, Mel, and Sue? I've found a couple on YouTube and I just can't get into them. I'm not sure if it's my bias or if they're really not as good now.

Oh wow! What a cool opportunity!
Do you know why Chris left?
It was amazing! I loved every minute.
He started his own thing and is now being sued by ATK.

Valerie Bertanelli (sp?) is my favorite of the cooking hosts. She seems so normal and sweet without being annoying, and a lot of her recipes appeal to me too.
I agree Pioneer Woman is annoying and repetitive and some of her recipes are completely ridiculous, but I've also made some of her recipes and really liked them. She is a bit more of an achievable skill level for me to be honest.
I really like Bobby Flay's brunch show too, but I am a huge sucker for breakfast foods. Everything he makes looks delicious. Helps that I favor southwest flavors too.
I don't mind Ina Garten too much but her recipes are rarely vegetarian, so they don't appeal to me.
I don't mind Giada's shows either but the way she always way over pronounces every Italian word is eye roll worthy.
The host that bugs the shit out of me is the "farmhouse born and raised, fresh is best..." lady from upstate New York. Her recipes are also very carnivorous, and the way she talks just annoys me. She seems perfectly nice... just annoying.
For some reason I don't mind Diners, DriveIns, and Dives, but I hate all the competition shows. Cupcake Wars is the worst. I used to really like Top Chef, and still find it fairly interesting. But I hate Chopped. "Here's a basket with prawns, pomegrantes, chocolate milk, and off brand cheetos... you must use all of these ingredients in 20 minutes! Go!" Bleech. Do not care. These are not ingredients I want to cook with.

Food bloggers post stories before the recipes because we're not Food Network, All Recipes or some other recipe database. And yes, to engage the readers that come back over and over. It's a free recipe. You're going to complain about how it's presented?

I really wanted to like this show when it started but I agree, she's so annoying. I'd rather watch back to back pioneer woman than her show.
I know the editor of All Recipes. She's a really nice lady and I've been to their headquarters and cooked. It was so much fun and the staff was very welcoming.
I have a wide variety of cookbooks including a church one. I love it! My latest is Ashley Christensen's cookbook. Her mac & cheese gratin is da shit.
PW’s roasted red pepper pasta is amazing. But she makes me cringe
I make an AMAZING roasted red pepper pasta sauce so I googled PWs to compare and OMG please stop making that! Butter AND heavy cream?? And the sodium, OY! Mine is so healthy and delicious, and super easy. It's our favorite. But I'm walking into the pumpkin fest with my family so I'll have to leave you hanging for now.

“Life is not orderly. No matter how we try to make it so, right in the middle of it lose a leg, fall in love, drop a jar of applesauce.” - Natalie Goldberg
I've been watching past seasons of the Great British Baking Show as a way to do some self care. It's so soothing even though it's a competition show. I've had some impure thoughts about Paul Hollywood.
The only Food Network show I ever watched was the "Best Food I Ever Ate" series. But that was about restaurants lol. I love to eat but cooking is not my jam.
ETA: Oh! I like that Shitty Ass Cooks show. I know HOW to cook (I just find no enjoyment in it) but those are my people.
I watched Christopher Kimball’s new show yesterday. I really liked it. I thought ATK and Cook’s County wouldn’t be as good without him but they still are.
For some reason I don't mind Diners, DriveIns, and Dives, but I hate all the competition shows. Cupcake Wars is the worst. I used to really like Top Chef, and still find it fairly interesting. I liked Chopped until it became clear that the person with the saddest sob story would always win.
I also liked Master Chef, but got very turned off a few years ago when the tasks was to make fried eggs. One egg per plate. Joe went down the line to judge and just looked at the plates and anything that wasn't perfect he just threw on the floor. The plates were shattered and the eggs weren't even eaten. What an asshole. Don't waste food.
Then maybe a season later (or the same season? I don't even remember) they had a really obnoxious girl named Kristy who just fought with everyone. She never made anything noteworthy but she made the top three/five (again, don't really remember) because she was dramatic and loud and created conflicts with other competitors. Good chefs got sent home in favor of a total trash bag.
Guy Fieri is the devil's handmaiden and I hate everything he does or touches.
I will try an episode of the Great British Baking Show without the former hosts once it's available on demand on PBS, but I fully expect that it will make me sad. Also, Nadiya for life!!!!!!
I prefer the cooking shows on PBS. My favorites, in order: Rick Bayless, Pati Jinich, Cook's Country, Lidia Bastianich, America's Test Kitchen, Jacques Pepin.

Lol! I make it maybe twice a year because of the butter and heavy cream! But I would love your recipe because I love roasted red pepper sauce!!

I once read Guy Fieri describes as “the human embodiment of Mountain Dew” and it was so spot on it’s what I think about every time I see him

I thought it wouldn't make it to PBS since it's no longer produced by BBC?

Crap. I'll just have to watch old episodes of Nadiya's season.

There are 3, maybe 4, seasons that were made before the 3 we can get here. I've hunted them down on YouTube. I really like the first couple of seasons because they have segments of baking history where Mel/Sue visit with food historians, bakers, and pastry chefs.
