While I loved that they gave 11/Jane/Elle her own episode in Chicago, I could have done without the second string Suicide Squad and introduced Eight in a different way without making it feel like they were testing the waters for a spinoff.
I loved Max as an addition but it felt like a forced push of her family really weighed parts of the story down. I'm sure they'll explore more into Season 3 but with such a short season it felt like more wasted time.

We just finished last night. Most has been covered here and we plan on watching Beyond Stranger Things tonight.
One thing that bothered me in the last episode was how they saw the shadow monster leave Will but no one saw it enter him. They saw him thriving in pain but not the actual monster, but it was pretty clear they saw the shadow leave. I need consistency when it comes to mythical beings!

It entered him while he had flipped to the upside down, which then meant Will was “hosting” it in the right side up (lol), so when it left him it was leaving him from the right side up, which is why others could see it.

But he was still in the right side up physically. And the upside is an actual physical place, so how could his body be at two places at once? Like, when he was in the woods in the upside down last season, he wasn't also in the woods in the right side up.

This is explained in the show, too. He never really came all the way back from the upside down. He was caught in-between. When the shadow monster entered him, he was kicked all the way to this reality.
ETA: Also, you're wrong about him not being here when he was there. He was able to control the Xmas lights, etc. I mean, we're talking about traveling dimensions. There are no rules hard rules about here and there.

I know he was "here" but he wasn't in the exact same place in both worlds. Like, he wasn't next to a certain tree in both worlds at the same time. In the 2nd season, he was in both exact locations at the same time.
But I guess since he was caught in between that makes a bit more sense. You're right though, the whole traveling dimensions thing isn't a hard fast rule. That's why I don't usually like these things b/c I need to be able to believe in the possibility of it.
I had never heard of Chad Lowe before this thread but the brother looked so much like a young Rob Lowe that it was distracting. I agree that his character seemed pointless.
I think the Kali stuff was kind of over hyped by making it the intro to the season. It made me expect more and I thought she would show up to help in the end.
I thought Sean Astin was a spy do I felt really badly when he sacrificed himself.
Link didn't work, but I saw this right after I watched the season (I had been avoiding anything ST related until then).
I thought Sam's brother looked just like Rob Lowe, and figured he was cast partly due to that similarity. I even looked the guy up to see if he was any relation to the Lowes.
As for his character, there are so many 80s movies where a "bad guy" is there just to be a bully, so I thought he fit in well that way. And really, what 80s movie wasn't over-the-top cheesy?
I also felt like the Sam character was extraneous, and just in there to throw in another girl, but, I won't be surprised if her family's story line reveals more next season. And the parents being as pissed as they were about the older brother not watching her more closely may have some tie-in with the father knowing the truth about the town and trying to make sure the son kept the girl safe. Or, they could just be throw-away characters...
OMG, I am the biggest dumb dumb alive. I JUST NOW REALIZED THAT CHAD AND ROB LOWE ARE BROTHERS. Like, I've always known them both growing up. I just never put it together b/c Chad is blonde? I don't know.
But to stay on topic, I thought Billy looked like an uglified Jared Leto.

The one that took me a long time to realize were Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez. I think it was the SNL "Pump you up" skit that made me finally figure it out.
this show is TERRIBLE for someone like me who gets overly invested in characters lol. I care about almost all of them.
except will and billy. meh.
Yeah, I never really connected with Will. I wonder if that's because he's the one that put all the others in danger, so I just didn't like him.
I feel like Will doesn't really have much of a character. He wasn't really in the first season, and he spends the second season either terrified or possessed. I think that's part of why Winona Ryder is such a key to the show. I don't care about Will, but I care that she cares about him.
