I never got anything for my dad. Oops. I’m gonna walk to CVS when they open and see what gift cards they have there. He’ll probably buy booze with it but he does that anyway.
Wes woke up with a nasty cough, so that’s less than promising.
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham
I've been up since 4:30. I'm working on all of my prep for tomorrow because I want to take a nap later.
My mom called last night to tell me that they had to put our cat to sleep. She was 18! Just a few months ago they had to put our other cat to sleep who was 19. They both lived very long loved and spoiled lives.
J, the 19 year old, came into our lives because my BF at the time wanted to get a cat to "remind him of me" when I went off to college. We broke up and over break my Dad and I went to his house and cat-napped her. (BF's parents knew ahead of time but BF didn't)
Then, sophomore year, my friend and I went to the pet store to buy a fish and walked out with E, the 18 year old. I wasn't allowed to have a cat in the dorm but I had a private room so we thought I could hide her. Well, our dorm had something wrong with the fire alarm so it went off several times a week and at all hours of the day. I would put E in my backpack during the evacuation. That went ok for the first few weeks but then she would start to meow while we were out there and move around and it became obvious I had a cat in my backpack. I took her home over Christmas break. I later found out that when I would leave for class E would put her paws out under the door so everyone knew she was in there.
I have a sick kiddo. C woke up at 5 congested with a fever and sore throat. We know he needs his tonsils and adenoids out but are waiting to be able to schedule it. I was hoping to avoid the store today but we may need to run out for ice cream and popsicles. Poor guy.

Kids slept in in a hotel which never happens. We are all getting ready to go explore New York. My husband and I have been here, but the boys haven’t. I can’t wait to show them around.
Our guests for the evening cancelled because they are sick, so all my worrying about having enough prime rib was for nothing lol. I'm irritated at the situation but would much rather them keep their germs away from us.
DD2 “woke up” at 5:30, called for me and was sleeping when I got to her. So, I’m up thinking of the things I need to do today 😐 I’m trying to tell myself to relax, it will get done and to go back to sleep. It’s Christmas Eve- enjoy it! But, not working with my type A personality 😬
I’m pretty pissed off at my DH at the moment. He decided yesterday morning that it was the perfect time to start a plumbing project he had been putting off for about a year and a half. No emergency or anything, he just wanted to reroute the pipes between the water softener, heavy metal filter and hot water tank to make it all more efficient. So without any notice, he shut the water off and cut into the pipes. We are still without water. We need to leave by 2 pm today to go to MIL’s. None of my cooking is done because I have no water. We are supposed to leave for my mom’s as soon as we wake up tomorrow to open presents with her and stay for a week. My laundry isn’t done either. I had planned to stay home all day yesterday to cook, bake and do laundry. I have a feeling that instead of showing up at my mom’s with a plate of Christmas goodies, I’m going to be walking in with a bag of dirty clothes. Not happy.
-My ILs are here and already getting under my skin, but I'm really trying to rise above, take deep breaths, and enjoy the holiday. It would really help if I could have wine, lol.
-DS asked my MIL *and* her H if they had babies in their bellies. Uuuugh (/lolz)

DS went to bed last night with a fever. He’s also super congested and has a sore throat. He had so much drainage that he threw up. So he won’t be attending Christmas Eve festivities tonight. All day we’re gonna lounge around and watch Christmas movies.
We are having people over tonight at 4:30 for dinner. Oddly we are completely ready and prepared. And it's 8:15 am! So now we are looking for something Christmas-y to do this morning/afternoon. Do you go anywhere fun on Christmas Eve? Any suggestions? We are in NJ if that helps.

When I was a kid we used to go to the mall on Christmas Eve just to sit there with coffee/hot chocolate and people watch. It was actually a pretty fun tradition:-)

One of my cousins came sick to the family Christmas party. Thankfully she left her son who has HFM home with her husband. She did not look well and even acknowledged she was sick. Thankfully she posted on FB she was sick and the one had HFM so my other cousins and I kept our kids away from her. I felt kinda bad for avoiding her, but we do not need HFM or whatever in our house.
Also, someone brought shrimp to the party, but it was not on ice or anything. Mom calls after we get home to say if anyone ate the shrimp don't be surprised if they have stomach issues. She said when she went to help clean up the food it smelled bad. My kids and DH love shrimp, but thankfully none of them had any. They were swayed by the big tray of steaming mac and cheese. I have never been so thankful for my kids obsession with mac and cheese and my aunt who thinks about all the little kids when she brings food (she also brings a table full of crafts and stuff for the littles to do). Nothing says "Merry Christmas" like food poisoning.
On a positive note the boys were so well behaved. I was able to talk to my relatives who I really enjoy. Got home well after the kids' bedtime, but they were great and even slept in today.
When I went to get DS out of his crib, there was puke everywhere. All over his sheets, all over his face, hair, pajamas, blanket, lovey etc. We are supposed to be hitting the road in 2 hours but now we will have to wait on laundry, since we need to bring his lovey and blanket...
I hope this was a one-off, since he ate a TON of food at dinner (so much I actually worried I was letting him eat too much), and not the start of a stomach bug. He isn’t eating much for breakfast, which worries me. 😷

Thank you for sharing! I know people try to avoid the mall like the plague on Christmas Eve, but if you don't have any shopping to do it doesn't sound bad at all. Maybe we will take the kids to lunch there, see the decorations and do some people watching!
Up early after going to bed late. I haven’t slept well the last few days. Ugh.
We’re hosting my parents and FIL tonight for dinner. Turkey breast is finishing thawing to room temp and all the sides are easy. I’m trying to keep things low key.
We have a lazy day at home today and I am so excited. We are going to church at 5 pm. Then we will drive around to look at lights. Then home for appetizers.
It snowed last night. Not enough to sled, but enough to kick my kids outside and pretend that it is worth playing in lol.
Right now I am doing good with the whole dead mom/Christmas thing. I am a little sad we are not doing some big family celebration. But I also think it is easier to just keep it small this year.

We are going to my grandmas house this evening for Christmas Eve Dinner. I have a CT scan this morning. My ENT scheduled it then sent me an email about it after it was already booked. I'm so happy I have nothing else to do on Christmas Eve than to get a scan. The only reason I kept this appt. was because they couldn't get me in another day before the new year and we already met our deductible for the year. Hopefully it won't take long.
I’m laying in bed realizing that I bit off way more than I could chew with regard to all the stuff that needs to be baked/made today.
I knew this was going to happen. I felt off about it all week, but I didn’t have time to get anything done earlier because I was working.
I’m trying to decide if there’s stuff I can cut. But I really want to have everything. There’s also no way we’re going to eat all this stuff. Sigh. I’m annoyed with myself. All I wanted to do today was watch Christmas movies and eat cookies and we can’t even do that because I haven’t made any cookies yet.
We submitted our "wish list" for this summer's move. The Army really doesn't care where we want to go, but it's nice to have at least the illusion of control over this decision. This should be our final move, though, so it's a little more nail-biting than usual because if they send us somewhere we can't see ourselves staying until DS 2 graduates from high school in 2029 we'll have to uproot again after H's contract expires.

Not as bad, but I'm with you.
DH thought 2 nights ago he needed to insulate the pipes in the basement. That have been there for at least the 15 years we've lived here, likely 100 years.
But he can't find time to go look at xmas lights with us.
I had 5 kids (just in my homeroom) out sick on Friday, most with the flu. Eric and J came home from the beach yesterday afternoon. Within hours J has started puking. No cough, no fever, just lots of vomit. Lots.
DD2 has croup and a fever of 103.5 F. They swabbed her for pertussis just in case because we have an outbreak here. We missed the annual holiday party with all of our friends and I'm hoping MH gets home from work tonight in time for me the go to Christmas Eve mass.
