This is terrorism in it's essence. Yesterday through the school day we continued to shelter in place at home. It was a gorgeous morning but I had to explain to the kids why they couldn't play outside, trying to not freak them out. Eventually I let them cross the lawns to the neighbor's two doors down, and I watched them as they tip-toed and my oldest reminded her brother and friends to watch out for wires. I did a look around, too, as authorities hadn't yet made a sweep of our street. The truth is, it was fortunate that those affected were grown men.
Surely, they must be getting closer to finding out who is doing this, and that the brazenness will be this person/people's downfall.

If the package at the San Antonio center is in fact the bombers is it safe to assume this person does not live in Austin. Wouldn’t the FedEx package go through the Austin facility if it originated in Austin?

The package allegedly originated at a south Austin FedEx location. The SA facility is a processing facility so it would go from Austin ---> SA ----> Austin.

The package is thought to originate at a FedEx location in south Austin.
Thanks for the clarification. It seems weird that a package destined for Austin would go through Austin then to SA and then back to Austin. I apparently don’t know how mail works. I hope they find whoever is doing this soon.

I thought that the one that originated from the Brodie Fed Ex location is the one that ended up at the McKinney Falls Fed Ex place (by Austin airport, where a suspicious package was found?
ETA: Nevermind, I'm confusing them all. But you are right, the SA location is a processing facility.
All the postal/Fed-EX workers have to keep this in mind. What a nightmare

APD just shared this on Facebook: #UPDATE: There was no package explosion in the 9800 block of Brodie Ln. Items inside package was not a bomb, rather an incendiary device. At this time, we have no reason to believe this incident is related to previous package bombs. #Breaking #packagebombmurders

From what I gather it's something meant to ignite, rather than explode. Though, I don't feel confident in their saying it's not related to the other incidents.
I don't have confirmation other than a person on my local board said that it's being reported in the news that it was not a package bomb but an incendiary device (likely a flare) that exploded among some donated goods. The worker who was handling it was treated and released this evening. It's also being reported that the APD is stating that this incident is NOT related to the serial bombings of the last few weeks.
They were able to track down suspicious store purchases and Google searches after getting an ID on him from when the two packages were shipped. Cell phone signals led the police to where he was at that hotel. I’m glad that all of the tech was available to catch him
Nice how they aren’t releasing his name yet before notifying his family. Is that a common practice?
The statement I saw from the PD said “not releasing name until the suspect’s remains are positively identified by the medical examiner.” Maybe that includes family member ID?
