Nice how they aren’t releasing his name yet before notifying his family. Is that a common practice?
It is common practice to notify next of kin of a deceased person before names are released publicly. Often names are leaked by other sources and media makes the call an whether to publish before official confirmation.

The statement I saw from the PD said “not releasing name until the suspect’s remains are positively identified by the medical examiner.” Maybe that includes family member ID?
I hope this is the end of it. I hope there are no other lingering explosives that he set that haven't been discovered. I hope that know one else was working with him or decides to follow in his footsteps.
I don't feel happy or relieved, though. I feel sorry for the people who lost their lives because of his anger. I'm angry that he terrorized my city and my people here. I feel sorry that his family will have to live with the knowledge that someone they loved did this. They will have to live with that shame and guilt for the rest of their lives. I don't want to know his name or who he was. I want his memory to die along with him.

Ah ok. Cuz I know usually there is a name being bandied about at least. I also haven’t heard terrorism be used even though that’s absolutely what this was.
Yes, even this morning, not one person has said terrorism and I just saw the video of the suspect from FedEx and that motherfucker is white. He's 24.
I hope he didn't drop bombs anywhere else before the shitbag killed himself.
The guy's name is Mark Conditt. He lived like 2 streets from where my bf lives. Bf woke up to hearing helicopters and cops everywhere searching the house and closing off nearby streets.
I know hindsight is 20/20, but he was wearing gloves when he dropped off the package at FedEX. That should have sent up red flags to a package handler.

Not really. I can't see the type of gloves he is wearing in the video but most people who handle boxes all day wear gloves to protect from cuts/staples/tape...

100% agree with you. Another homegrown white male terrorist.
If he was a person of color, there would be endless backtracking from this administration calling him a terrorist. Instead, he'll just be some mentally unstable young man. This was terrorism, plain and simple. He even used fucking bombs. It's infuriating.

I can't wait for the comments about how wholesome and non-threatening he looks. That definitely depends on your perspective, because he looks scary to me. White people aren't considered scary until they look like Charles Manson, but I'd beg to differ. These are the young men I warn my nephews about.

Victor Gonzales, the mayor of Pflugerville, said Conditt lived about two blocks from him in this city about 20 miles north of Austin. Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety and agents with the ATF cordoned off several blocks in the neighborhood where Conditt had lived.
“I’m sickened,” she said. “Surely in hindsight someone must have known and maybe this could have been prevented.”
I'm sure lots of people knew lots of things, but you know, he's a good white Christian kid, so whatever. (yes, I'm assuming, and I don't care.)
assuming what? that he's christian? USA today article quotes a FB post from the person believed to be his mom saying he was considering a mission trip after he "graduated" from homeschooling.

I am angry that white-American terrorists are never going to be as fearful of our "justice system" as of their fellow community members.
Somewhat related to our after-tragedy navel gazing we and the media do to figure out what is fucking wrong with this white, American terrorist...we had a double homicide in our town a few days ago and it turned out that this 60-yr old couple was killed by their 21 year old son. The son had been in our alternative high school until he was 19 with a teacher friend I was talking with when another friend said, "He must have been deranged or crazy to do that!" Our teacher friend who worked with him for several years until he was kicked out of the program said, "Don't jump to mental illness to understand this. I worked with him and he was aware of his consequences of actions. He has a behavioral deficit, not a mental disability. He knew right from wrong and what he should do, he just was too lazy to do it and failure had never hurt him enough for him to care. He has behavioral problems, and probably now mental issues after such a terrible murder, but don't scapegoat this on his behalf - it's behavorial."

Looking forward to everyone in the white and Christian community having to endure aggression from strangers while immediately denouncing this act of terrorism and assuring everyone that Christianity is a peaceful religion.
I understand the argument that this guy should be called a terrorist. I make it myself, but I'm starting to wonder if I really believe that doing so will make things better, or if I'm just parroting a call to inaction that will make me feel better.
Because when you think about it, when it comes to black people in America, the whole system is terrorism. The police are terrorists, the educational system is terrorist, the justice system is terrorist, our laws are terrorist, etc. It doesn't help me at all to have this one white kid called a terrorist, when they're all achieving the same end, which is the destruction of black people.
I'm sure many of you all won't agree, but it's something I've been thinking about.

I had the exact same thoughts the past few days when I saw people posting "why won't they call it a terrorist act." I knew all along it was going to be a white male and I thought what is calling him a terrorist going to do? Not a damn thing. It's not going to stop brown and black people from getting shot by the police for breathing nor is it going to stop the blatent racism in our everyday lives.
From a legal standpoint, I'm sure terrorism charges do make a difference, but most of these white guys just kill themselves anyway. So yep, no point.

It's so that, if by some chance, the media calls him a terrorist, they can say, "welp, I feel better! Back to being white! The NOT terrorist kind."
We all know that word is not meant for white people, so I don't know why I previously cared so much. I don't think I ever did. If anything I was just pointing out the irony, but I'm kind of bored with that at this point.
